  1. Seeking shooting friendly private psychiatrist for application assistance.

I have never been embarrassed about shooting and stalking and do not think anyone else ought to be. I give lectures to doctors about guns and psychiatry when I have the opportunity😊

  3. Seeking shooting friendly private psychiatrist for application assistance.

I am indeed a shooting friendly Professor of Psychiatry, (Emeritus, University of Hull), in other words a medically trained doctor who specialised in mental health. I have been a consultant psychiatrist since 1988.
  4. Katch-it Hampshire - have I been fleeced?

I’m still waiting for nearly £70’s worth of squirrel traps, ordered about six weeks ago. The company haven’t replied to my email and the phone is not answered. According to Companies House, Katch-It was wound up several years ago. According to Trustpilot, quite a few people have paid for...
  5. Changes to Firearms Licensing. What would you do?

It would be presumptuous and wrong to say that. Even so, an in depth evaluation by an experienced psychiatrist with the benefit of his full mental heath history and an account from an informant and his FEO could have raised alarm bells. 6. Changes to Firearms Licensing. What would you do?

At the moment GPs are required only to confirm that the applicant does not have relevant medical conditions as defined by the Home Office guidance, or otherwise, which in turn the applicant has to declare on their application. They do not need to see the patient at all, just look at their...
  7. psychiatrist ?

The BASC scheme is for members whose GPs refuse to confirm their record, or delay or charge unreasonably. If the police see the GP report and then want a psychiatric opinion I’m able to provide one. I’ve had several referrals through the BASC firearms team, so far with positive outcomes.
  8. psychiatrist ?

Absolutely agree that it would be ridiculous to involve psychiatrists routinely - apart from anything else there aren’t enough of us...but appropriate where there are seriou questions over mental health and risk issues. It’s mainly about suicide, but also about cognitive compromise as in...
  9. psychiatrist ?

The police want confirmation from the GP that the applicant does not have any of the ‘relevant medical conditions’ on the Home Office list. If the applicant does and they are psychiatric the police may ask the GP for further details and their opinion. Sometimes GPs won’t co-operate because...
  10. psychiatrist ?

    Will help if I can
  11. psychiatrist ?

Depression is very treatable. Getting help does not necessarily involve your GP - there are some very good self-help websites. Family and friends should be the first port of call though, that’s what they are there fore, mutual support. Taking responsibility for your health is something which...
