  1. Balistic tip , plastic or metal , pro and con

Probably the most violently expanding round I've ever used (modified Nosler RDF bullet). You don't want to have to eat anything you shoot with these....
  2. .260, Overlooked?

Just an FYI, but 6.5CM can be made from .308 as well, it just requires a 7mm-08 trimmed 0.125" (off the bottom) to bump the shoulder back, and then neck turn the cases. A 6.5CM body die also helps, but is not necessary. Thin (Remington) .243 can also be used to form 6.5CM, with no neck turning...
  3. Balistic tip , plastic or metal , pro and con

Virtually all polymer tipped bullets these days are polyacrylic/lexan IIRC. After the whole Hornady "melting tip" campaign, pretty much everyone changed to the harder, less heat sensitive polymer for the tips. Personally, on game, I think the polymer tips work the best. They provide reliable...
  4. Anyone casting their own bullets?

Casting for 222 is certainly doable, just remember to load to pressure, not velocity. Or more accurately, use pressure as the guide to which powder to use for what bullet weight at a desired velocity. Unless you heat treat your bullets, they can get pretty plastic above certain pressures (the...
  5. .260, Overlooked?

Not really convinced on that, since the cases are not reloadable. As I understand it, it's a one time use case. Can they be reloaded? Yes (it's been done). But with those pressures, it's unknown how long the cases would last before catastrophically failing. Not something most people want a...
  6. .260, Overlooked?

This. ^^^^ Remington's lack of care and feeding of the cartridge (in spite of what shooters were saying they wanted) was what killed it. They also never worked with other ammo manufacturers to increase availability of the cartridge. Greed and arrogance.
  7. Private number plates.

Just curious, does the UK not offer Veteran plates? They're pretty common here (and free to Veterans in many states). Typically they'll show the logo of their branch of service (unless they're 100% disabled, then they just show "DV" vertically on the left and a number to the right).
  8. Sainsbury eggs

This ^^^ It's why in the US almost all egg supply is white, and you pay a premium for the tan colored ones (which I always thought was humorous, having grown up eating both).
  9. On average are American shooters worse shooters than British shooters?

In certain areas (especially those close to large urban areas) this is the case. But bear in mind how much larger the US is than the UK. So, though this does happen, it is the exception, not the rule. So no, Americans (as a whole) are not that bad of shooters.
  10. On average are American shooters worse shooters than British shooters?

Actually, I'd argue that it's one round, striking the intended target, cold bore. Groups are for training and accuracy assessment. Accurate, single hits, are what kill. And killing is always the end result/challenge we seek., whether it be two legged or four.
  11. On average are American shooters worse shooters than British shooters?

Sigh...another US bashing thread. So surprising (not). I'm not even going to argue, I'm just going to let some of the stupidity in thread remain documented for posterity's sake.
  12. What did you cook for dinner last night?

Not quite a gumbo, but similar flavors. Just doesn't have enough density to stand alone like a gumbo (hence the cheesy grits).
  13. IT Assistance ~ MS Outlook ~ Email Forwarding?

If I understand your question correctly, this is just an alias setting in Outlook. You can add/link multiple addresses that are linked to your main email account.
  14. What did you cook for dinner last night?

Just thought I'd start a cooking thread, since we seem to have some talented culinary people on this forum. I'll kick it off with last night's dinner. Cajun Shrimp with cheesy grits and Andouille sausage. It's a little spicy, but a great comfort food dish for a chilly evening.
  15. Last major UK gun manufacturer is now gone....

I kind of agree actually. The US market is bigger, so it makes sense on paper. But the constant delays, and a couple still born screw ups really hurt them. The AT-X, constantly being updated/fixed, with no relief for early adopters really ****ed off a lot of people, and IMHO, really hurt the...
