I’ve got two R8 stocks with several barrels and an R93 too. All are 22mm. With the flexibility of having different barrels you may as well be able to have anything you want. It also allows custom barrels etc. especially now carbon barrels are popular.
One not mentioned so far is the 102 yew tree bullet. Lathe turned and made in Wiltshire. They’ve been very accurate. I’ve also tried the 101 LRX in terms of copper. I’ve gone back to lead however. The ES was huge with the copper bullets in my 25-06. For example the yew tree bullet would be...
I’m reluctantly selling my Defender 110 due to relocation. It’s been completely revamped by Lucari Design as you can see. Starts and runs but needs a new battery and turbo fitting. A few cosmetic bits here and there need doing if someone wanted to make it perfect but its in good condition. I...
This discussion is why I bought a 25-06 as a small/medium deer cartridge . 80-100 gr copper bullets work and at high velocity. I think the future will be lathe turned fragmenting bullets, which we are already seeing. But with the USA being the driving force of change slower twist short barrels...
Hi John,
I’m very sorry you and other legal rifle owners are being punished for no reason. It’s pathetic that the State is trying to ‘do something’ by banning straight pull rifles, and not rooting out the cause. We’ve had it here with bans of hand guns and semi auto rifles. Nothing changes as...
The 114 TLR has been great in my experience on small deer. The 127lrx probably caused more damage and it’s non expanding. Both are good. After using a few different yew tree bullets the consistency in accuracy is undeniable. Lathe turned bullets are very consistent
I don’t think there’s a simple answer. If I shoot the rifle regularly I don’t clean regularly. Top competition shooters do not clean their barrel unless required (loss of accuracy). Dont over think it. The ones you don’t shoot need cleaning and oiling because of corrosion and rust etc.
I’ve shot a bit of mountain game, including a mouflon out in Croatia. I think a .270 a fine choice. But the BC of a 96 gr bullet with long shots in potentially high wind might be challenging. You’re just making life harder than necessary. It’s a great hunt you’re going on and no need to scrimp...
