  2. Another .222 thread.

I have an original Remington model 725 in triple deuce which I’m putting up for sale. It was my grandfathers and has been lovely but my cabinet is getting full, hence the sale. I wrote about it back last July on here. if anyone is keen let me know before I look for a dealer!
  3. Remington Model 725 triple deuce

Thanks @Sonicdmb73, good insights! @Heym SR20 excellent suggestion and I might get there in good time, and I may start another conversation about and everyday nearer the time. I need to take a few steps before that... keep a net zero change in the gun safe to keep Boss on side. @pendle thank...
  4. Remington Model 725 triple deuce

That looks pretty functional to me! And an improvement: there was a bunch of vet wrap around the stock the last time I saw it, if I recall?
  5. Remington Model 725 triple deuce

He will be the first to tell you I’ve already spent too much on it and too little time with it!!!
  6. Remington Model 725 triple deuce

Hahah, brilliant! I wondered when I might bump into you here. And what a day that was!
  7. How many rounds to you take Stalking

4 in the rifle, 4 in a cheek rest/ammo sleeve. Depends what you are going for... but you need to be lucky or very seriously unlucky to need more in an outing, I’d say.
  8. Remington Model 725 triple deuce

@Heym SR20 i would tend to agree on the moderator side of things. There are definitely compelling arguments to stick with the 222. And of course a 6.5 something @Mungo and @Sonicdmb73 ! I’m sure one day I’ll need to ask you both the merits of CM vs Swede vs 260 remmy. @Daddy The Skunk that is...
  9. Remington Model 725 triple deuce

Thank you all for your thoughts and advice, it is really helping the debate here. Very helpful to hear about the Good Reason side of things. For the sentimentality side of things, @Heym SR20 I do get it but the Rigby fulfills this side of things in spades and my grandfather wanted me to enjoy...
  10. Remington Model 725 triple deuce

That is good to know, thank you - though I may also need to convince the Boss Lady! limited space and funds is another part of the equation, unfortunately. I am keen, however, to gauge the value and where/how might be best to sell it. Thank you!
  11. What wellies

I've been using and recommending Dunlop Purofort+ for the last 20 years or so. On my send pair as of 2 years ago. They are great value at c. £50, comfortable, and excellent grip.
  12. Remington Model 725 triple deuce

Thanks for the insight, AB! It may help to give a little more background... In the uk, you need good reason to own a rifle and if I find more use out of a 243 then I don’t think I’d be allowed that and a triple deuce. It also isn’t legal on the quarry I typically go for locally. As for the...
  13. Remington Model 725 triple deuce

Evening all, I inherited a Remington Model 725 in 222 from my grandfather some years ago. He was given it by his crew when his posting ended on an HMS and, I believe, it was a little customised. He has used it all around the world and I have some exotic antlers from his exploits. I have not had...
  14. Evening all!

Thank you, chaps! I am based in Oxford, Chris, but always willing to travel! Currently I have only stalked in Dorset. Where aboutt are you?
  15. Evening all!

Thanks! Many thanks, varmint223. I am sure I will find my way around and get there... It's all very exciting!
