Question about Spartan bipods

Hi all,

Does anyone have a Spartan light bipod and if so did it come with the stock adapter in the box or does that need to be purchased separately?

Thanks in advance

Description on Spartan Refinishing says it comes with the Classic Rifle Adapter Kit

To get the best out of them, you really need to use the gunsmith adapter or whatever it is called. The little thing that needs the stock drilling out a bit and epoxying in. It is an easy enough job for a person familiar with tools but also might be something the more anxious person might want to employ a gunsmith to undertake. More so if you have a really nice stock I guess. I just got a forstner drill bit and went ahead. It was slightly too small but some careful dremel work and then standard epoxy and all was well and still is.

The other attachment thingy that I recall goes on the swivel or replaces the screw (cannot recall exactly) is ok but does not feel as secure or permanent. It was not something I could live with, hence the DIY install of the gunsmith adapter.

They are good bipods though. Some people really dislike them but for a rifle that you mostly shoot from sticks but want the odd shot from a bipod or for working up loads or zeroing etc, they are really good. I use the Spartan and also Harris. Happy using either from a shooting point of view. Less happy carrying a rifle about with a bipod attached though. The Harris tends to be used on rifles I use for more static shooting and the Spartan is more for shooting deer, even though the vast overwhelming majority of that is from quads sticks.

This is a really useful insight, it sounds like my shooting is similar to yours, stalk from sticks and only really need a bipod to avoid resting the scope in wet grass!

I've got both the screw in (on GRS) and the gunsmith adapter on a custom stock. Both work fine tbh, although my actual sling is side-mounted on the GRS stock so the screw-in bipod adapter is purely for the bipod.

As per you guys I shoot from sticks or high seat so it is 99% used for standing gun while gralloching and of course...........the photo shot :)

Nice little bipods - no complaints from me.

If you use Blaser sticks you can have the best of both worlds............
