shooting show

We went last year. And neither my nephew nor I would want to go back.
The best thing we both took away from the show was the advice from the Tikka rep... "If you want to go to a good, well-stocked shop with lots of Tikkas to look at, go to Forest Lodge Guns"

It is a good show. Is it worth coming all the way down from Scotland? I wouldn’t think so.
If stalking is your thing, then the The Stalking show, is better,

I go to both, but the shooting show is only a 2 hour drive for me.

Personally wouldn't waste your time travelling and the costs associated, Stalking Show in April is definitely worth a visit!

Was thinking of going to the above show this weekend from central Scotland, is it worth the trip ? and are there any complementary tickets available ?
I go to both, love the stalking show. Getting the impression it's being hi jacked due to its success🤔The shooting show was incredibly busy in the morning. Plenty to see.

I go to both. The 2 shows are both good in their own rights. Like you we thought the place was busier than last year by far and there seemed lots more stands.

I haven't been for the last two years total waste of time and money if you're interested in stalking then go to the stalking show in April cheaper day out better food some bargains to be had.

As I arrived yesterday morning, there were huge queues to get in, however, once inside I found it rather disappointing, a number of the smaller stands were empty, Eaton hall had a very large stand but was set out in such a way that I personally found it quite unwelcoming, was the upstairs even allowable to the great unwashed?bettws hall the same, seemingly inhabited by the poshest of university graduates on tour? I watched a bit of the Vinnie Jones talk which was ok ( a difficult place to talk to be honest, no one's fault, just a fact). I also watched the wild chef, as I find him quite easy to like. Overall I'm not sure I would go again but as many people go for a day out, as did I really, it depends on your personal outlook ( and values of £30+!) I'm not sure how much a stand costs the exhibitors? And what value they therefore receive, hopefully they all did well ( the pasty and pie stall certainly did as the food inside the NEC itself was the usual Michelin star fayre!) I've tried to honestly say what I thought and hope those of you that go will find what you want. R

I wouldn’t waste your time or money. Im here now and if you’re looking for a new case for your phone or some magic back healing device this might be the place for you. This show is a joke and I’ve only come because I was invited by a friend so was free

Oh! Gosh! Thank you for your honesty in saving others from suffering the same disappointment. It's always easy when things meet or exceed expectations to post comment. It isn't when things don't. Thank you for sharing that.

Had a look at the website for the stalking show this morning - it’s got a hall layout from last year & exhibitor list for this year.

Was seriously thinking of going for a cabby as I’ve not been before. However, location is a 3 hour drive from me - each way so 6 hours on the road meaning an early start to maximise time at show & then a late return home. Fuel cost circa £65, plus £20 online entry fee plus food = minimum £100 as a starter.

Yes I could get a train but first I’d have to drive to a station & pay to park, no direct rail service from my part of the country - need to go up to London Waterloo, tube across town to Euston then another train, rail fare would likely be in 3 figures, would need taxi to get to/from venue & station. Not really viable to buy & transport large items, eg drag bag for rifle, on train, etc. Not to mention travel time each way of 4.5 hours so an even longer day & likely higher starting cost.

Think I’ll give it a miss tbh ☹️

Been today

Busy but no so busy my avoidance radar started kicking in ….

AI team in attendance - nice to see them there

Kahles

Schmidt Bender

Both welcoming and had high quality optics on display - both caught my eye with 3-18 models (FFP)

The new PSE Etac at the Schmidt Stand - what a fabulous upgrade to the iconic original

Caught up with friends who were working on various stands - great to catch up

Christian from NRL Hunter UK too

The Steel Action rifles look interesting - one even in a Victrix chassis (couldn’t get close as was very busy)

Fieldsports channel were there - very busy and also have to say appeared very friendly (for “A”List rockstars of the shooting world anyway (not as tall as they look on tv)

No shortage of thermal and NV kit on display from various vendors

Avoided no pix due to their reliability record - did look at the Hail Micro stand - like the Q50 L ? Thermal scope very neat

What else

Lots of clothing on sale ,,

Air rifle kit on sale too in abundance

If your that way inclined

Not much reloading kit on display unfortunately

There were more than my fill of tweed wearing, “don’t know who I am” (why have you forgotten) types - just ignore rather than be wound up

Oh and a stand occupied by the leaders in deer related training county something - passed a few times and didn’t see anyone engaging with them very pale individuals on the stand - do they see much sunlight ?

All in a decent show

Was it worth the money, time and travel - well it was nice to see old friends regardless
