Variation Refusal Appeal - Ripe Shooting Insurance

100% happens. Not wanting to go off topic, but I've had things I've posted brought up.

They can obviously only match people if they happen to post things that narrow it down, but they definitely do.

It’s well known the law monitors the SD, simple rule of thumb is don’t incriminate yourself!

It’s not rocket science

All credit to Met Police team variation for ammo allowance and new rifle and Mod all done in six working days.
We all love knocking them at times but great service Met 👍

A friend pursued his case for a humane dispatch pistol , he had excellent reason and was at the time part of a team that covered some 250k acres of forest , islands and farmland with a lot of cranky sika in thick woodland that getting a rifle in position wasn’t so easy for HD.

He eventually got “passed” for it but upon hearing the actualities of holding one he decided against and withdrew his application which was welcomed by the police.

I do not have experience of appealing firearms licensing decisions, just planning applications. Prior to appealing an unexpected refusal it is always better to submit a fresh application that narrows the points of disagreement to their most simple.

Generally even when we disagree with officers, planning rather than police, there is space for amicable discussion and pragmatic solutions. I would generally email to explain that a new application will be submitted and request a meeting or call to discuss it in advance, to save everyone time.

I really don’t get this is and them mentality I recently had a zoom call over a variation where something I asked for was going to get accepted so I dropped it off the variation we had a good talk about it said both sides to the issue and I decided to drop as it looks like it’s going to be an item they are looking to blanket ban across the nation yes I understand some things do need a push back but I would rather work with them than against them at the end of the day we know most of them are not as clued up on certain things but so are dvsa examiners but if they make a wrong decision it’s their head on the block I’ve learnt things about people 5 years too late they got to make decisions from a form and a short talk

I would hope it takes a court order to make the site owners identify who is posting and i doubt FEOs spend their time reading all that’s posted on the many shooting forums, youtube etc.

So how have they threatened anyone on SD
There’s more than one on this forum, there’s one on this thread!

Myself and others are looking into the role of section one shotguns and fld interpretation of government guidance. Existing holders are losing their vermin control upon renewal based on good reason. However they are being authorised in the practical shotgun format. This has raised a few discrepancies and I suspect the only way to have this resolved is through the appeal route. As far as we know this has not been tested through the courts at this time. Please correct me if im wrong and I would be grateful if anyone has done this to drop me a private message. I might open a new topic on this matter or add comments to a current topic.
