Just back from a very enjoyable weekend on the other side of the water
Out with a great bunch of guy and good craic had all weekend
First evening I was placed in a high seat in an open area within a small wood, cull muntjac and water deer were on the menu
One of my friends had given me a cherry wood call to have a go at either frightening or calling any of the resident muntjac
After an hour or so to let everything settle back down I gave a few little squeaks on the call and waited, few minutes later I picked up a pair of muntjac coming through the cover a buck and a doe…or so I thought
What appeared was a 3 legged buck and a younger buck with just little nubs up top
I was able to record the 3 legged buck on my phone before shooting him and was amazing to watch him move, each step forward his chest would almost touch the ground before pushing back up with his remaining front leg
Range was short at 50 yards so took him with a high neck shot,at the report the smaller buck got back into the cover and a few squeaks later got him back into the open for a similar fate
