If Mods come "off ticket"

I think thats how it'll work. You just show your licence and buy as many as you want. I quite fancy trying an Atec PRS to compare to my sl7i

I'm loving this explosion of US mods I'm seeing, because they're about to drop the tax stamp business. I'm looking and hoping we see a similar surge of innovation and competition over here.

I've a God awful T5 thing on my 223. Weighs as much as the rifle so I'm looking forward to getting rid of that and getting something nicer.

Or it may not.

If only there was a way to adjust your sights if, in fact it does effect the poi.....
Light vs heavy mods/barrel accessories do tend to alter POI/group size, sometimes for better, some for worse. Similar concept to how muzzle tuners work.

If you took your stalking rifle on a range session, I dare say you wouldn't want to have to zero and rezero at the end of session

Funnily enough, that's exactly what I do. My .280 shifts right .2 mil, and up .4 when I take the mod off, so it takes all of 20 seconds to restore zero depending on if I'm intending to use the can or not.

No big deal if your scope is reliable.

If it moves that little, happy days. Presumption says its a heavy barrel? Ive had massive shifts between mods/brakes to the point I was genuinely surprised that it could cause that much shift

Not sure mod freedom will get me too excited. Have what I need.

But, it will be nice to avoid variations when they eventually wear out.

That said, I fully get that in licensing areas where turnarounds are 3-9 months it’s a ballache saviour

No, a 24" med sporter (.650" at muzzle) with a DPT can. This amount of shift is in line with what I've seen on my other rifles. DPT aren't especially heavy, and do have some of the weight behind the thread - so it will have less effect than if it was all forward.

I bought one of the very early PES stainless ‘reflex type’ over barrel moderators from dear old Rick Whiteley at Chris Potter CS as part of a package when I bought my Tikka M595 .308W. It was well designed but had the air of being made by an ‘engineer in a shed’ about its construction - good old Kiwi ingenuity at its best. It was heavy but it was VERY effective. It had a few little niggles which were addressed as the model developed through production/sales increasing. For example it used a left hand thread to fix what I termed the ‘spider’ inner tube to the end cap that the outer tube screwed into. This kept working lose as the mod was spun onto the rifle tight. Initially I simply ‘staked’ it with a large centre punch but that only fixed it temporarily so I had a mate TIG some spot welds on it.

It was certainly a great moderator & way better than the other offerings available at the time!
