BASC DSC & LANTRA

Only trouble with on line is who is sitting the test.
At least in a classroom is face to face and documents of a person can be checked who is taking a test.

With respect Lee, 100 fallow on a field isn't a lot.
And as the herd size increases, their behaviour changes.

Exactly their behaviour changes, I’ve seen fellow send out skirmishers, six deer ahead of the herd maybe 500 yards ahead, I stupidly shot one of those six and never saw a deer on that piece of ground again for the duration of my trip

Yeah that’s normal!

I’ve always followed this simple rule, never shoot big herds!

Always pick off the stragglers or herds that you can wipe out.
Pigeons are just the same, don't bang into a big flock and they just go back to the wood and wait!, clap them off then pick them off when they drift in 1-2-3's
And leave the 8 shot riot gun at home...

Don’t shoot Deer at night, somebody will get killed in the end. It will only be a matter of time!

Keep night shooting to those who can actually do the job properly who have experience in doing the job properly, not giving it to people who can just walk and do a BDS course and all of a sudden they’re qualified and experienced in doing the job!

You’re all running around like kids in a newly open sweet shop with your new ticket. I find it quite pathetic really personally.

For the record it took me best part of 18 months back then to shoot 100 deer before my level 2, I managed dear properly I didn’t shoot them like pests
Lee you said on the phone that mike was on your ignore list what happened did he send you 🌹🌹

Have you actually seen 100 fallow on a field?

I’ve seen over 100 red on a field if I have one shot, maybe two if you’re lucky and then they **** off for three months that’s what happens when you get 100 red on the field!

The rest of its bull****

And if you’ve got or have applied for a night license on a wing and a prayer, because that will get you to pull the trigger more, you’ve gone greatly down in my expectations, bearing in mind you live in North Wales and you’re stalking in Devon
Yes mate I have ref the 100+.

On the CL55 side I applied as I was interested in the process not that I was intending to use it with the current situation but it allows me to help a couple of mates out if things pan out that way. I f I want to pull the trigger more I ll do more on the foxes.

No, I meant that the behaviour of a really big herd of fallow is completely different from a smaller group of around 100 or so.
If you haven't seen it for yourself you wouldn't understand. (That’s not a criticism, by the way).

around 15 years ago i did dsc 1 ( shouldnt have bothered but there you go ) instructor went round the room asking what peoples experience levels were , funnily enough id shot more deer than him .........

I did my DSC1 over 28 years ago at Thetford, Sounds like chalk and cheese from my DSC1 it was a good entry level learning experience for all and a good chance to meet like minded people.

im glad you enjoyed it , as i say my experience was very different , i meet like minded folk every day by taking them stalking

Be interesting to see how busy the County / Capreolus stand is at the Stalking Show in a couple of weeks.
In my experience and casual observation folk who look like "core" stalkers (if it is possible to tell from looks ? probably not ) seemed to blank it.

Jealous Timmy? Think Lee is big enough and brave enough to talk for himself and sure if he want to tell me to FCUK off he will in person. Maybe you should take a similar hint and do one or go find some friends to slap you on the back...utter loser 🥰 💋

You have a new nickname Fortnight Mike "2 week" and can't help but look lol....
You managed 1/2 a day so try a whole one

Yes I did enjoy mine some 28 years ago as have tens of thousands of people since the first DSC1 over 31,000 have completed DSC1 since mine I wonder how many did or did not enjoy maybe time for a Poll.
please feel free but theres a huge difference between enjoyment and need, if we have 30000 " qualified deerstalkers " why do we have such high deer numbers ? the system and money making courses isnt working , clearly , i dont think the answer is more red tape but less

I have taught hundreds of people on DSC1 Courses where I have been the Assessor and seen hundreds more on courses where I have been assisting colleagues.

In my experience, the only people that I have seen who didn’t enjoy it, and go away having learnt a lot, were the ones who came to the course fully intending not to enjoy it and not to learn! Basically the ones with a chip on their shoulders.

Luckily I am only talking about a handful of people over the years.

Obviously I can’t speak for other Instructors/Assessors. Maybe I’ve just been lucky and had all the good Candidates!

I did the BDS online version with a one day assessment with Jan Andrews in Dorset. I'm glad I did it that way as there was an awful lot that I didn't know about deer, far more than I'd ever had learn't during the one day instruction. From the practical point of view I've found DSC2 more useful and the experience gained leading up to it.

So if someone didn’t enjoy the course they went intending not to enjoy it ?? Wow that’s pretty arrogant to assume as much , but then seeing as you make a living at it I get why you’re defending it 🤷🏼
