Tripod advice

Some advice please, I want to buy a carbon tripod with a clamp mount, for stalking and thermal fox work, currently using quad sticks. I’ve seen lots of videos of people using them, never used any myself and wondered what the pros and cons are of them in practical use, what do people recommend? Advice greatly appreciated.

Got the Bogpod death grip tripod as Bo said ideal for sitting on a bait station or Den watching.
Otherwise a faff ,I'm a quad sticks user for general stalking as they can be used as monopod, bipod or quads for quick deployment.

I've found the quad or 5 leg sticks a bu55er to move if needed in clearfell etc trying to pivot round if beast moves, legs can get caught up
Im using tripod stalking and found it no more a faff to carry than quad sticks and no heavier.....once set up I can pivot on the tripod without moving legs

I've been using my Rekon tripod with Hog saddle for several years now, and I wouldn't want to be without it. It's ideal for rough and steep ground. Being carbon fibre, it's quite easy to carry.

A really good piece of kit.

Sunwayfoto 2 section inverted is 👌 for £370. I prefer to clip in on the arca rail but I believe you can get clamps to fit the head. Their arca clamp will also accept pic rails to. I'll personally take a tripod on an armageddon gear sling every time over any sort of shooting sticks

I have a Bog Death Grip tripod for static foxing & really like it (much better than sticks).
Mine has aluminium legs as I read that the weight saving for the carbon version wasn't worth the additional cost.

Certainly they could be carried for walk & stalk, but are a bit bulkier & heavier than quad sticks.

One leg has a neoprene sleeve near the top which is comfortable to hold without gloves if the legs are closed. However, if carrying with the legs extended (as for stalking), the sleeve is not at the balance point, which isn't a problem if wearing gloves.
Adjusting the leg length if stalking could be a faff on uneven ground.

As suggested above, if possible, try before buying.

I use the Bog carbon tripod with an Ant Supplies arca lever clamp on top, I found this much more solid than the saddle clamp, faster to deploy too. I did modify the arca clamp a bit as it will take picatinny too and that was snagging the rail when I tried to mount the rifle.

I set the two legs that don't have the carry grip to the most upright preset option and do height adjustment with the other leg that is set for any angle, it's really quick to deploy.

Carrying is no chore either, I only fold the rubber sleeved leg in and hold it horizontal.

I use quad sticks when stalking but I find it a pain having to "walk" the sticks to track a fox across a field. Having the rifle securely supported whilst spotting is a godsend too.

Anything in carbon will be an asset, I have quad sticks with a 5th leg and they brilliant for stalking and sitting out, for sitting out I use a tripod and rifle clamp can’t beat them for sitting out they are like the quad very very sturdy but as said previously can be heavy I also use mine for re zeroing thermal scopes very easy to do with a clamp 👍

This is what me and many others hunters are using with real good results. The combo is lighter than bog death but at least as stable and may be more.
