What calibre?
Hmm! Check the bore! Check the bore! AND that it feeds all the cartridges you load it with. I had for two weeks before it was sent to auction as effectively junk a P-Hale "African" M81 in 7mm Remington Magnum that wouldn't feed. Nor eject after round two was fed from the magazine. The issue is that to make a Mauser '98 type action into one chambered for a any cartridge based on Holland's belted magnum case means you need to do more than just screw a suitable sized magazine box in place. You need to do competent and fairly extensive work on the bottom of the action itself. So try before you buy with a full set of drill rounds.PARKER HALE 1200P BOLT ACTION PRESENTATION CUSTOM SAFARI RIFLE IN .375 H&H. - Emma Custom Rifles PARKER HALE 1200P BOLT ACTION PRESENTATION CUSTOM SAFARI RIFLE IN .375 H&H. - Emma Custom Rifles
Thanks, but I only need "one shot"!Hmm! Check the bore! Check the bore! AND that it feeds all the cartridges you load it with.
Bit what about zeroing? One shot is an indication of point of impact! Three shots a better indication. It's five shots that go to form a group! Thanks, but I only need "one shot"!

So it is! Sounds fun in 270!

I am at risk of that…There’s an m81 all original on Gunstar for £195, like new. In .270 someone needs to buy it!
Someone, @tozzybum I think it was, posted a link on here to a chart that tells you what weaver(?) bases will fit on there.Folks - I’ve read through this and could do with some of the PH guru’s assistance please. I’m currently doing a mini restore on an old PH .243 rifle as it has sentimental value to a friend who no longer has a license (it was his fathers).
I’d like to fit a 30m scope but struggling with bases / mounts. I had considered just getting it drilled for a picatinny but assumed there may be a more elegant alternative using either new bases or different mounts?
This the rifle in question - any suggestions on what (exactly!) to buy and from where?
Many thanks,
Rob
