Well... I just (for a laugh) had a look at how much it would cost for me to insure a hilux (the one on sale here from owenlee).

Started at £1000, and had to keep scrolling until £1400 before I hit a policy which didn't include installing a black box to the car...

31, never had a claim, 5 years NCD...

Don’t fit a black box. And keep looking, you will find it cheaper but jeez it can take some work !

Benefits, public sector pay rises & pensions. Debt interest and net zero nonsense.

My mum had a perfectly good 64 plate Honda Jazz, petrol. I think the tax was £30. She chopped it in for a 73 plate one, petrol and electric hybrid. The tax has just gone up to £210.
To irritate further, I needed to move it across her driveway. Battery was full. It still started the engine to drive thirty feet.
And to irritate yet more, it only charges from itself. Can't plug it in. So you're paying unleaded excise duty and 20% VAT on fuel and then suffering transmission loss.

Maddening. I hope it catches fire.

Not that it affects me but: As of April 1, 2026, the highest first-year road tax (VED) rate in the UK is £5,690 for new cars emitting over 255g/km of \(CO_{2}\). This affects luxury vehicles and high-performance cars, such as the Range Rover V8

You also want to look at the claims excess on such vehicles

Those cost of living increases given to MP’s won’t pay for themselves nor will the stupefying amount of money that Ed Millerband is ****ing up the green washing wall.

Pay for green incentives like EVs and their charging points, it always has been a green party policy to remove personal transport to force people onto public transport instead

Yoga.

Over 600cc motorbikes are now about £125 each yet my 1200cc Skoda is only £20. The wife's car is 1500cc and seven years newer, yet is nearly TEN TIMES the tax of mine.
Total nonsense this green emissions spiel.
