I’m looking for a light gun for walked up snipe/woodcock.

Probably a XXV or No 2 with 26 inch barrels, would also consider an Arrieta/Garbi or a Churchill (would stretch the budget a bit obviously for that).

Ideally a full wood stock at 14.75inch or so, but one with a decent butt pad to that length would be fine.

Choked C & 1/4 would be ideal but up to 1/2 on a barrel would work. Some snipe end up far away by the time you see them!

I’m in no rush as want to hold out for the right gun condition wise-I know it’ll be out there. I have been looking at guns over the past fortnight at RFDs ranging from a £1000-£700, with drastic differences in condition often not reflected by the price.

If anyone here has an excellent condition 25/26 inch sidelock they’re looking to sell that fits the bill and their RFD will transfer to an NI RFD please let me know :)

There's a few good value no.2 on Holt's sealed auction this month (some 16g too).

Of course, it's a pay your money take your chances on the sealed front!

There are some crackers in the April auctions. There's also a lovely Webley 700 which looks great

Ask for a condition report, they might do it for sealed bids, but they don't guarantee they will have time (might be best waiting until the main auctions are finished next week).

And Greener L70 if you're feeling brave on the restoration front! c

There was a very nice aya '25 in the ads here if you scroll back.
Not sure if it sold.
