Agree to a point....one of my best mates either drives truck to where he wants to ambush the deer and shoot off the back...or does the same with the quad. Old and wise ...just not practical for most of us
The other old and wise trick is make sure there is always someone younger on hand to drag and gralloch the deer after you have shot them. To be fair I am always happy to do the leg work for my elders

To be fair he lets me shoot on all his ground and often (when its an early morning) on my own so more then happy to repay the kindness. I have taken him on a couple of paid stalks on Muntjac and CWD that arent present on his ground (with me paying of course). I think that gratitude goes a long way.I have an IKEA bag for carrying roe back to the car. It was always difficult to pack it down to pocket size but recently I have been folding it and vacuum packing it which shrinks it right down - I vacuum pack after butchering anyway so popping the cleaned bag into a fresh one each time is no hardship and really does make difference to the bulkiness.
On the same track, in the summer when I have fewer available pockets for my (fairly modest) stalking kit I use an old fly-fishing vest I was given and have never used for fishing.
As I have aged I really want to carry less - this works well.

Exceptional piece of kit, and hearing the blurb about making it lighter to drag, you think "mmmm...I'll believe it when I see it"
Couldn't believe it. It really does work. The twisted gremlin I stalk with -who slates anything and everything - even he said "That's pretty good"
If could sell all the rubbish I bought when I was starting out, I could have equipped half the forum with one.
For me, my stalking gear consists of:
- Rifle (of course) - tikka t3x hunter in 25-06
- bino harness that carries my habrok HQ35L 4Ks, pouches have spare batteries and spare mag, harkilla pouch attachment with 4 rounds, drag rope, and a protein bar and anti tick device
- on my belt, I have an ammo pouch holding 6 rounds and use my corey jenkins custom made deer stalker knife and zipper knife
- In my back pack, a first aid kit, callers, butcher bags, a spare knife, suspended gralloch hanging kit and a butt out

Absolutely. I do this with my spare 100l Decathlon bags and elasticated carcass bags. As well as minimising bulk, it keeps them laundry-fresh!

I'm lowland stalking roe, CWD and muntjac, and mostly within a mile of where I can park up. My general principle is to bring the 4x4 to the deer and do the gralloch and any skinning and butchery there with a good suite of tools, but I obviously adapt this to the circumstances. Consequently, I don't carry a bag and mostly keep my pockets light when actually stalking.
I have a dump bag for all my pocket kit. At the start of each outing, I rummage in it and take what I expect to need. At the end, I empty my pockets into it.
I wear the same jacket year-round and insulate via layering as necessary. The jacket is an unlined Arktis SF smock that has no fewer than 17 pockets - so everything has it's place - and long underarm zips - that aid temperature regulation.
There's nothing special about my stalking kit except that the multi tool I carry is based around secateurs instead of pliers (to keep favourite routes clear and infiltrate through hedges); and I keep a foam pad and a matching piece of plastic for use as a dry seat and a clean tray as required.
The best addition to my gralloching kit has been a magnetic tool strip. Cable-tied to the S-hook, it gives me a convenient and secure place to put my knife between cuts.

Couldn’t agree more - I have one of these and it’s amazing. It’s the kind of kit you think won’t work until you try. Love the options for dragging different ways. If my children come out then they can help drag too (2 man mode).one of things I have bought recently is the following.

Tell you what I use on the hill for reds. Yellow vests like you keep in the car. Slip one over a beast from each group you shoot, makes them pop when you go back with the atv to find them, esp. if daylight is drawing in. Best thing I’ve done apart from just opening a cold beer and enjoying staring at the neatly mowed lawns
