Im looking in to get a carbon fibre stock for my R8 im LH which limits me massively to really two brand raven or a akila has any had any experience with either brand pros and cons

Bought their blaser metalwork from akila and great product and service. Had to pay VAT / duty on importing. Simple process and very helpful. I know of others who have bought carbon R8 stocks from both, in fact I think they collab on some products.

@Lateral Which carbon stocks did you supply?

I am, was, a Raven dealer, but since Brexit, it's been nigh on impossible to import the stocks, other than maybe individually, one at a time, which is uneconomical as a trader. I do have a couple of stocks left, but not a left handed thumbhole.

Both Carbonomix, and Gustaff make some nice stocks, if not a little expensive.

Regarding metalwork, hands up, I do manufacture, and sell the R8 metalwork, but for those who aren't aware, there was a law change some time ago, where the metalwork has been "classified as a receiver", and requires a variation, especially from a Blaser dealer, in the same way a bolt face of barrel do. I can't/won't sell my metalwork unless the person has a variation for a rifle, or a spare receiver.

The exception, at least currently, are where someone has a stock with the metalwork, or just the metalwork, and it's not on their ticket.

If someone is thinking of importing the metalwork, just be aware you may be lucky, and get away with it, but you could also get in a world of pain, if customs realize what it really is, and require "firearms import license documentation".

That a real shame and gutting youve not get any LH one 😔

I was after an ambidextrous R8 Carbon thumbhole, with neutral palm swell as my son is Left hand and I am right. The Gustaff was the only option I could find. I bought an aftermarket Akila action to sit in it. So far I ma very happy with both

Hello Mark, out of interest what stocks do you have?

Dan

Dan,

I have the following Raven,. They are all standard, and include short bi-pod picatinny rail, Harris style bi-pod stud, and two blanking grub screws. Fit to suit.

1) M82 R8 Success thumbhole, cheek riser, right handed, in plain Black camo. One left.

2) M80 R8 Professional, right handed. I think 2 left.

3) M932 R93 Success thumbhole, cheek riser, right handed. One left.

I may have a M80 Professional in left handed, but would have to confirm.

I also have the metalwork/receivers in stock, but they require a variation. I'd be happy to do a deal on a stock/receiver combo.
