Tikka T1x .17HMR Questions

Hey. Hmm ok. I have taken it out the stock and put it back in maybe 5 times. And every time it orientates itself like it does in my photographs.
Look closely at WM Powells photos of the action and compare them to yours, especially on the bolt release side. Your action is running up towards the muzzle and there's a reason for that. I'll wager that if you remove the recoil lug the action will sit lower straight away, it's just a matter of orientating things and the action will drop into the lug and it will "look" right and likely shoot right because you are no longer stressing the action.

This is the recoil lug currently. Is this correct?

I've tried everything. There's no other way it will go in/lock up

How do I remove the lug? I've never removed it before. I tried to remove it earlier but I wasn't able to. And then someone else said never to remove it

So do I put the recoil lug back in the hole it came out of?

I've put the rifle back in the stock without the lug fitted and it looks like it did when I first got the gun (although the barrell is almost touching the sides of the foregrip)

So you're saying mine is currently correct? I haven't touched it though. So if it's correct why won't my stock fit properly?
I don't know your level of expertise going further and I cannot suggest anything else really but believe me, something is not right. Not wishing to cast aspertions but after so many attempts maybe letting a gunsmith have a look or the shop where it was bought might be the best course of action, (no pun intended), I just want to avoid you damaging your rifle?

Bingo!:) As I said, no need for the lug but if you want to re-visit it sometime later after you have shot it a few times then all well and good. On the other hand, as I am often reminded, just shoot the thing! :)

PS Run a fiver up and round between the barrel and the stock sides, if the fiver does not get stuck for a good distance up the barrel then it will be fine.

I've figured it out! I have to put it in the stock, then pull UP on the barrel as I push on the action towards the trigger guard. It then 'locks in'

I've checked with the sheet of paper around the barrel snd the barrel is free floated ... Just! @Cogswell & Harrison @Pellet Pinger does this look right now?

Thanks for your help both.
