Morning all

My neighbour helps run the local scouting group. They have a camp coming up on 6/7 June and he is hoping to get his hands on a muntjac carcass (in the fur, head off) so he can show them how to skin it and then they can cook it.

I think it’s a great initiative - brilliant way to teach the young scouts where our food comes from and to expose them to game as a food source - and said I would see if I could help get him one.

We are based in Saffron Walden, and the camp is taking place in Colchester.

If anyone local is likely to have a freshly shot muntjac around that time please DM me.

Cheers

Rob

Best way to put them off for life i would think!
you are kidding aren't you - I learnt shoot air rifles as a scout including shooting rats along the river while at summer camp. We also did a bushcraft competition where we had to paunch and cook a rabbit over a fire, needless to say, it planted a seed that is still growing. I know it was back in the 80's but I'm pretty sure teenage boys are still as shallow and blood thirsty as we were!

Had a group of teenage lads on a pigeon course with a tray of pigeons for them to fix birds to rotary's flappers bouncers
The word "vent" was changed to "arse" with them falling about laughing as they were given a pigeons to fix on the said kit
