I had a new idea !

The Barrel holders are great. They space rifles, & shotguns perfectly so they don't bash into each other, but I still find I have to adjust the position of the stock, back, & forth to make sure the scope doesn't touch the back, or the opposite, where I can't close the door to the safe.

So I came up with a magnetic "cup" that attaches to the floor, and the heal of the stock quickly, & easily locates into !

NO MORE FAFFING................

I had a bit of carpet on my safe floor, but rubber stock pads really don't need it, and I also noticed that as the guns are leaned back, there's only a small footprint that actually sits on the floor, and It's easy to put a piece of sticky back foam on the base of the cup, and I'll either fit it, or supply it for people if they want to.

I'm just working the costs out, and will post for anyone who's interested.

I'd appreciate some thoughts/feedback ???

feedback, looks like you have to remove the soft material at the bottom of the cabinet that protects the butt to fix them in place. Are you solving a problem that is not a problem?

Thanks, but I thought I'd explained my thoughts on the foam/ carpet base ?

It really does nothing but look tidy, because most stocks have their own protection, with the recoil pad ? But there will be a few exceptions, mostly shotguns that have a hard plastic pad, and I have one rifle with a fancy pierced metal butt, that would certainly need some sort of protection.

But I think you're missing the point. I find positioning the stock in the right position front to back, especially on rifles with bigger scopes, or with big turrets can be a PITA. Too far back, and the turret hits the back, too far forward, and I can't shut the door.

These are simply positioned, so the heal of the butt sits in the same position every time, they're not designed to replace the existing foam, that has never been an issue.

As I said, I will supply a piece of sticky back foam to fit the holder, where this is preferred, and personally, suffering from OCD, I will, when I have time, line the bottom of my safe with some thin foam, and once I have decided where the holders need to be, and if required, I'll cut around the holders, and remove the foam bits, and then, it will be both functional (the holders), and pretty (the foam) 😁 But non OCD sufferers probably won't bother ;)

I’d buy!

Every idea I've had, and part I make, has been to solve a problem, issue, irritation "!" have myself ! And I'm not unique ......................... sort of 🤫

So I know other people will be encountering the same. Some people will like my solution, and will see a benefit, clearly some won't, but they're entitled bash, dink, smash, scratch their rifles, and shotguns, as they see fit ;)

Now I need to make them affordable for you lot, and that's harder than winning the lottery :banghead:  😁

I stand mine muzzle down so the recoil pad doesn’t get warped with time. I’d say, a muzzle protector would be the ticket, ie, they can stand in a little dedicated cup

The simplest ideas are the best 👍

Thanks for the idea.

Do you fit a thread protector, if the barrel is threaded ? This would require a number of sizes to accommodate different barrel diameters, especially now some barrels are coming with an integrated moderator ?

Would you be able to use a magnetic version ?

Maybe you can give me a call ?

I’d ignore the integrated mod market and just consider those who put their rifles
Muzzle down. One size fits all, whether thread protector or not, slight slant as rifle doesn’t stand straight upwards, maybe 15 degrees. No need for a magnet, the weight will pin it down. Also, when doing a deep clean and filling the barrel with agent, it can be used as a drip/collection pod for cleaning agent coming out the barrel. Always been an issue for me, and I usually have used tops from spray cans.

I think I've cracked it !

Tall enough, built in angle to accommodate the lean, AND CHEAP 🥳🥳🥳

Highly Sophisticated Barrel receptacle 🫣 😁

The bottom of my cabinet is comedy. I personally don't have issue with how far back or forward the guns goes in the cabinet, I just put them where they need to go but what I do have an issue with, is how the turrets/IR/Focus wheels etc, bang in to each other or effectively reduce the width of the cabinet. I have overcome this by basically putting various books and/or pieces of wood or other materials at different heights. Which has the effect of raising or lowering rifles so that their turrets/Focus knobs etc, do not bash into one another and means they can all go in nicely. All my rifles always go in the same place, rimfire on the left, .222 next, 6mm, then 6.5 and then shotgun on the right. I just put the bottom of the stock on the piece of material that is in its place and the rifle finds its home nicely.

With that in mind, possibly you could offer these components at various heights that would suit customers needs and solve the issue outlined above. It would have a dual purpose that would satisfy the solving of your initial problem but would also offer a solution to the lack of width (cough) that so many gun owners suffer from.

Not something I would personally buy as my Heath Robinson solution of offcuts of pine slats, ancient books and multiple pieces of leather, currently do their job quite nicely, albeit look comedy. But if it works, it aint stupid right?

Just a thought, might offer more utility to folks and make your idea even better.

I am sure some will find them useful, but possibly you need another gun cabinet rather than try and put too many in one.

These are not meant to increase the number of guns a cabinet can store, just make it easier to store what you have ?

But as for buying an additional safe, in this case, i wonder what the more practical solution is :-| There's the cost of a decent safe, the hassle of fitting it, and would you need the safe inspected by your FEO :-|

AND, the cost of getting "permission", from the "boss" 🫣

I get it, these are clearly not for you, and they won't be for everyone, who don't think it will make their lives easier 👍

Sorry if sound negative, but most gun cabinets do not hold the number of guns stated especially if rifles with scopes on, bipods on, etc, trying to squeeze 7 in may not be ideal. However your idea still has merit to help store less.

you asked for feedback, good or bad.

Yes, I welcome feedback, i ASK FOR IT, good or bad, AS it helps me decide if an idea has merit, if it's viable, or if it just "seemed like a good idea at the time" But I assume people who choose to offer feedback, especially if it's negative, will at the very least read my post, probably best some read it twice, and then base their response on whatever they feel is RELEVANT to the idea being offered...................

Foam, soft flooring......................... covered, and solution offered.

Additional gun safe............................not relevant to THIS post, it was never intended to allow room for additional guns !

Thanks, but moving on ;)

For cleaning try an empty drinks bottle with a bit of tape to the barrel to hold it in place, it catches the jags too.
