Cleaned 4 of last weeks old beasts and good examples of aging in their skulls, along with tooth wear.

The biggest's teeth which weighed lardered 24.2kg are in a fair state right enough and the heaviest head has had an abscess sometime from the top of the coronet which has eaten away a good portion of it and has eaten deep into the pedicle causing substantial thickening.
Also another one has a pair of tusks on him.

imagine its quite rare, but that's the first I've heard of Roe having tusks? Hybrid of sorts @sako751sg ?
In 1000+ I would say I’m lucky if I’m in to double digits over the years and I check every one.
It was always reckoned that it’s a throw back to when deer had to defend themselves from being preyed on.

Hi

Thank you for sharing the photos.
I'm pretty sure JG of Down-Under 'collects' the 'tusks' from his Sambar deer as they also seem to have them......

He will no doubt pootle along and correct me!
