Custom rifle

I built a custom rifle. I started with an 8x57 Husqvarna 640 and I had it stocked and glass bedded. The stock came from Musgrave Wapenfabriek in Ermelo, South Africa. The gun features Rusan pivot mounts and the scope can easily be removed without losing zero

The stock is a joy to use. A 200 grain bullet launched at 2640 fps is easy to shoot. This is the best stock that I have ever used

I am hoping to get a moose tag this year. My load is a 200 grain Nosler Accubond with PPU brass, CCI primers and 54 grains of H-4350IMG_20260608_195044.webp

Nice rifle in my favorite caliber.

That's a great looking rifle in a great cartridge. In my 8mm Mauser I use 200gr SMK bullets with 49gr of N150 and get about 2500fps.

That’s a beauty, and topped off with a nice scope too 👌
How many deer/moose etc has it accounted for so far? I think I'd be out stalking every day if I had such a rifle at my disposal!

I like not only the rifle but the load as well.

I've often suggested a 200gn bullet in 308 to those that complain about it recoiling a bit snappy.
A 200gn in 308 takes up some powder capacity. Plus loaded with a slow propellent it's quite nice to shoot. No takers 🙄

Yes 200gr bullets are excellent in .308 if the firing pin hole is small enough not to blow primers with a beefy powder charge. One of my pals uses 200gr Hornady ELDX bullets in his .308 Sig SSG3000 and gets incredible long range accuracy.

According to the Hodgdon website, 54.0 grains of H-4350 together with a 200 grain bullet will produce 44,800 Copper Units of pressure in the 8x57.

Modern brass will easily and safely operate at 50,000 CUP.

So 54 grains of H-4350 is safe in my gun
