Blaser R/H to L/H

Hi,

I have a Blaser R8 which is currently R/H bolt - is it possible to just swap this for a L/H bolt?

If yes - does anybody have a L/H bolt for sale

Yes, just a bolt swap is what’s needed. Also depends on the stock style. Some are ambidextrous, others not so much.

Remember that ideally you need the bolt carrier and the bolt head to be left handed if you want it to eject to the left. My son is left handed, I have a number of R8's but none in left hand. I was just in the market for a left hand bolt and bolt head, I did not find a solution, cost of new is very expensive, I ended up buying a new full left hand R8 rifle for quite a discount in a caliber that I was also looking for a barrel in.

I believe that the bolt head is a controlled part that you will need a variation for.

Ah. Ok makes sense.

I aren’t actually left handed, but I have to shoot left handed due to a problem with my right eye. (Long story)

I find it really clumsy to operate a left handed bolt, but I am going driven boar shooting and ideally I need the trigger hand doing the bolt and trigger so o don’t have to keep mounting/dismounting the gun. If that makes sense

I aren’t really that bother about it ejecting the wrong way

Did you manage to find just a bolt?

Edinburgh Rifles and Sporting Goods had a used bolt carrier in stock several weeks ago and will sell you that as it is not a controlled part, give them a call.

Good luck with sorting out your rifle to suit your needs, I do like my Blaser R8's.

If you want the R8 to eject to the left, IE away from a lefty's face, you will also need to change the bolt head and not just the slide/carrier.
