0moa or 20moa on a rimfire

Does anyone have any experience with using the DNT zulus V2 on their Z22LR or 17hmr with either of these rails. The scope comes with a 20moa mount but I've swapped this out for the QDS150 which is 0moa. The LRF box has not moved and duplicates the position of the 20moa mount, it is on screen through the complete zoom range. I've held off zeroing the scope until I took delivery of the QDS150 and now wondering if I should replace the 0moa picatinny rail for 20moa, it seems it will now be down to the range the scope is going to be used over. I'm not really planning on shooting beyond 100m.

It's what happens when you zero is when it will show up. Can you bore sight the rifle on a distant object then look through the sight?

You will get a clue then how far you have to move the zero point and how far or near the zero will be from the laser splash/box.

Unfortunately I don't have a bore sight so looks like I'll be doing it the old fashioned way.. Thanks for the speedy reply.
 
Ive ran the 20 moa rail on my .22lr and .17HMR

The only issue inda was on my .22lr in thst the rail on my RPR was 30moa so in total i was rocking 50moa which made zeroing a nightmare!

But I just shimmed the zulus in the mount and I got away with it

You need to re-zero the scope for the box to move with the new mount !

You don't really need a rail to shoot to 100 with the 22RF at all , just dial it in on any half reasonable scope . Or are we talking digital scope ? Your better off with a regular scope for this kind of thing for bunny bashing and some plinking .

however a regular scope is not much use in the dark, the op has a Zulus V2 digital NV.

This is a skill which pays dividends.

I had the resettable turret slip loose on my 308 on the way to the range, absolute disaster as I'd left it set for 1000yds.

Thankfully I was able to use this boresight method and get it within 10" or so of zero at 50 metres first shot without disrupting the range session at all, and shot the rest of my two hours without issue.

The amount of people who simply aren't aware this time and money saving method of getting on paper exists never fails to surprise me.

days or should i say nights now long past, lugging a heavy 12v battery around with a torch whilst you mate did the shooting and you lighting up the rabbit or fox. yes it still would work, but technology has moved on a long way so going back, no thanks.

The op will find his zulus v2 a very capable scope day or night.

Come off it on the weight side of things we lost the lead acid batteries some 30 years or more at least . i managed just fine with two dogs or the rifle . The old motorbike wet Battery was well gone by the mid 80s
Sure NV thermal and Digital works fine and i would not be without it myself but the lamp hasn't stopped doing its thing . Those lamp shy rabbits and fox have been dead a long while now .
Of course the OP will be fine with his night scope , I was countering your condemnation of lamps . We should not forget any more the old ways because they just sometimes they can come out as the best

I was not putting down the old ways but neither would i go back to them, just like lots of improvements in life, would you go back to car with no vacuum assisted breaks, power steering, ABS, air con, central locking, electric windows etc, oh i guess if you own a old LR then may be 😂

Yeah i would actually . Truthfully I hate driving Modern Vehicles , Take a new tricked Pickup v the old style 1,2,3 Landrover or Range Rover - For Use in real the tough stuff . ABS ? I was tutored in Candence breaking in my teens and more , very handy stuff to know well ! Along with how to fix things without
no need to get plugged into an expensive computer to figure what is wrong etc etc and the modern Computers do still tell Pork Pies

why stop there, horse and cart for you 😂 are roads are a lot safer due to the likes of air bags, mind you your old car will likely not get above 50mph and frequently break down oh and needed lead petrol 😂

Smelly dahling….. How terribly olde world!
Nowadays one pairs one’s Zulus with one’s Ifone and simply sets the fone next to the rifle - level with the bore. Thus a quick sideways eye movement is all one requires rather than moving one’s noggin. When done one can even play “The Golden Shot” - younger members ask your grandad.
Simples….
