Smitten by rimfire

I have the Zulus 3-12 V2 on my cz 457 in 22 and I really like the wider field of view and I won't be taking any shots past 100y so I don't need the extra mag. I have the Zulus 5-20 v1 on my .17hmr and I think this suits it better as that's a 200y rifle

With a lot of head scratching and YouTube viewing and not forgetting the type of shooting I plan to do I ended up purchasing the DNT zulus zhd520 V2. The tube scope was almost on the table but a deciding factor was that the rifle and scope will always be equipped for day or night shooting once I lifted it out of the gun cabinet. I'm impressed with the night vision, it's amazingly clear. Looking down a laneway until it curved to the left around 155 metres the view was clear and crisp. No issues identifying game or vermin at that range at all. Having looked through the 5x20 I can also understand how useful a 3x12 would be at closer ranges and would say it would still be a very usable option on a rimfire.
I can confirm the V2 3-12 is VERY useable on a .22lr

I've gone and done it again! Applied for a 22LR, placed the order yesterday for a CZ Varmint 457 16" in synthetic stock. Same as my 17hmr so will have a set of "Terrible twins" 🤣

Opting for the Sak mod this time. Regards a scope, looking at the DNT Zulus V2, just trying to decide on which one the zhd520 or the zhd312. Though the 520 is winning slightly at the moment.

If anyone has tried both on a rimfire or even looked through both then I'd like to hear your thoughts. Unfortunately my local gunshop doesn't currently stock them but can order my choosen option in for me.
I have both and prefer the 3-12 for the ranges you will be using, any further and the 5-20 comes into its own

I use Zulus 5-20 on my sub12 Air rifle. I initially mounted another on my 74ft lbs FAC FX Leopard and couldn't get on with it, the pixilation at 50-100yds presenting (to me) a horrid sight picture. I've since replaced with Alpex 4k Lite LRF.

On barrels; AR platform, semi auto, 16" barrel, rested at 25m on grip bipod and target (yes wrong target but a club freebie) results below with Lapua Midas; finding the right round for the particular barrel is far more important than any other factor.

tjm160 hit the nail on the head, right round for the barrel the most important factor.

I went for the 5x20 but had a method in my madness, have the HIKMICRO alpex A50EL 4K on the 17hmr and thinking to swap these over. I'm going to set them both up on each rifle. Most of my daytime shooting will probably be done with the 22lr and the 17hmr will be used more at night so thinking the HIK would suit the 22 and the DNT the 17. But will still have the option to swap around as I have I'll have an IR for the HIK also.
