Out last night.

I've been constantly picking one up on the trail cam, sat out for a good while a few times now and it hasn't come in. the only thing that i can think of is that it doesn't like the fields i need to shoot from as there's horses in there. the trail cam is only 10 ft into the wood that borders the horses field.

Am I being daft or is that some sort of pink purse you have Smelly? As a Creedmoor owner I am not saying its right or wrong...but seriously
Closet creed owner me...

I asked my Mrs to get me a little cheap purse to keep ammo in and she returned with that!
She got me a new tooth brush the other week of similar colour 🤷

Out last night :)

To avoid any pedantic nonsense ... the moon was big and bright and somewhere near full...so it was chuffing bright and like daylight.... but needed to pop to one bit of ground I havent been to for a while just to show willing. Arrived at around 11.00. The farm has a couple of roads that cross it so I tend to split it into 3 and drive to different spots, park up and then walk the various parts. Nothing on the one side so over to the second. The main issue is that there is one place to park and when you park up you are visible to any wildlife ...so as I park up and get out...the fox whose half way up the field decides to leg it so I see it go over the boundary never to be seen again ...oh well :).

Head to the last piece and after a 1/2 mile walk I spot a fox on the edge of a silage field..which unfortunately hasnt been cut yet. Only option I have is to sit down on the grass and lower the trigger sticks as low as they go...put the caller on and the fox comes bombing in ...well considering the 3ft grass it makes a good effort. At about 80 yards it stops and get a .243 round in the forehead..there was a fair thermal splash with multiple "chunks" visible. Of course the grass was so long I couldnt find it so heading back after work to try and find it so it doesnt end up being silaged.

Got home around 1.15 and stupidly had a quick look with the thermal ..... to cut a long story short there were at least 3 cubs and an adult in one of the worst places on our ground...I probably did a 3/4 mile lap to find the fox was 50 yards from my starting point ... lots of sweating..swearing ... but managed a cub and the dog ... and got to bed at 3.00...Im getting too old for this nonsense :lol:👍

Very bright moon last night. Low and long shadows . Tall vegetation making IR use a pain and saved a fox from its termination. Why is it a couple of leaves just cause flare out when it's impossible to move as Charlie staring at you and is poised like an Olympic sprinter waiting for the starting gun.?
