Wanted: 12g SxS wanted

Afternoon all,

I’m looking for a 12g SxS ejector and single trigger. Based in IV15 but quite often travelling down to central belt and up to Caithness area so can widen my search a bit. Would happily use RFD for the right thing.

LOP would ideally be 15” + being 6’4”.

Budget for something in decent condition in between being used for knocking fence posts in and an old English collectors item. For the occasional bit of side shoot at clays and a couple of days rough shooting.

Have the guns but not single trigger versions

IMO the single trigger SxS is a disasterous idea
by far the biggest failure point is the trigger
The Purdey design is overly complex
Worth researching

Fancy a Beretta silver hawk sxs single trigger ejector, 28inch barrels, 3inch chambered, fixed choke 1/4 & 1/2, steel proofed. Ejectors can be turned off for walked up shooting, nice wood, if interested drop me a message with your email address and I will send pictures.

I know people saying “don’t get that, get this” can be bl**dy irritating and you may well have a lot more of experience than me! But… I normally have only ever shoot traditional SxS for 45 years and I’d second Edinburgh rifles post above. Older single trigger setups are thought unreliable (although in the interests of fairness I should say I’ve not personally seen one break), but I’ve only used non selectable single triggers which were reliable but you also lost the instant barrel choice and hence choice of choke. What trigger, of a twin trigger set up, you drop on to is even quicker handling with a straight hand stock than trying to push a selector over with the thumb while mounting the gun if your looking at something recent. If your just shooting driven game broadly coming towards you it probably isn’t important but for a variety of rough shooting coming and going the ability to make your selection while mounting the gun can be really handy. You’ll also be looking at a much bigger pool of guns and hence are more likely to find something representing decent value. Good luck with whatever you select!
