Because the bullet might strike something it can deflect off and change its trajectory.kb.Why?

Isn’t that true of any cartridge?Because the bullet might strike something it can deflect off and change its trajectory.kb.
Oh, should have mentioned, outside the UK. Very seldom get's that far but a good example. Up to 300m I think a 308 is better.I remember the days years ago if you said you had shot deer much past 300, admin would ban you because it’s a stalking forum![]()
Bigger heavier bullets don’t frange (If that’s a word) as easily as smaller lighter built ones and therefore ricochet easier, so I would think bigger more damaging if coming into contact with unintended things.Isn’t that true of any cartridge?

Worth googling if you haven’t read about the interview given by the guy that ran the Warehouse.Just remembered….Secrets of the Houston Warehouse….might be worth revisiting?
Ken.
According to some, it effects harmonics and the effect accuracy.,.I've always believed that length of barrel doesn't affect accuracy, just power.
Correct - why get a cartridge that by design is supposed to have a long barrel and send a 140g bullet north of 3k fps. In my mind, it doesn't add up. I get why someone may want to reduce barrel length but the reality is, 4 inches of barrel weigh an extra sod all if weight is the concern.
I've currently got a 20 and a 24 inch barrel on two rifles, none cause me any drama. The rem mag had a 26 and a long moderator which probably added another 7 inches. Still, no dramas with it.
Very bad practice accident just waiting to happen., it’s about getting in and out of a truck 30 times with the rifle
Very bad practice accident just waiting to happen.
And if you read the post it also says about lengthI once saw a mum in a pickup truck dropping her kids off at school. Why drive a pickup if you’re not going to put stuff in the cargo bed?
4” isn’t always about weight, it’s about getting in and out of a truck 30 times with the rifle.
Glad to hear itRifle is in an unloaded condition when getting in and out of truck
ill happily teach you how to tie boot lacesI also wear Velcro boots
you carry on you practice of in and out with rifle you’ll meet him before me and I’m 90How’s it breathing all the way up there next to God?
I’ll leave it on the roof instead…Glad to hear it

I run a 6” can/mod so I chose a 20” CM. With handloads it’s about 2650 FPS with 143 ELDX. The bullet hits minimum terminal velocity 1800 FPS at 700 yards.
20” is easier to handle and lighter with more than enough power for loooong range.
How’s it do accuracy wise?I run t3x superlight in 65CM, it’s 24 inch barrel, if you carry barrel down you really need to be quite tall (I’m 6ft and potato fields are a pain)
