2024 squirrels, post them here.

A very cold, very windy, very miserable Sunday morning here..... but I wasn't going to shoot any squirrels under the quilt, so out I went......

4 off my feeder:

7 for the morning 👍🏻.Happy with that.

My youngest was up on the rota today and has added a third squirrel, the first shot was in its chest and it sat to contemplate. I cocked the gun and he sent it cartwheeling backwards with a spine shot. His older cousins were with us, their family is American and anti gun, but they enjoyed watching as part of the gallery. The five children and bitch went out to pick the dead squirrel up.

Yesterday a squirrel bolted across at 30 yards heading to a pile of brush, two of us shot as it broke and put the best part of 90 grams of lead into it. Within a millisecond it was extinguished.

My eldest, 9, was on the roster today. Very patiently waited with the squirrel in his sights but no kill shot available. After a few minutes it stretched to get a peanut and that brief moment was enough of an opportunity, the pellet striking behind the ear. It landed at the feet of a cock and a hen. Late for school, but important conservation work complete.
