I had a M595 re-barrelled with a 1in14 at 24". It was an absolute lazer with norma 50gr vmax factory ammo
Options are always nice if you want the rifle for a variety of disciplines, I didn't. I told the smith it would be a dedicated foxing rifle, the ammo I intended to use, and the 1in14 is what he recommended
With regards to brand/model. All the usual suspects will be more than fine. Maybe a wanted post will be a good start. I'm sure there's plenty of semi custom jobs with solid actions like the Tikka M series re-barrelled sat doing nothing. They often don't work out for the owner like it didn't in my case, and there difficult to sell on. From what you've said already, you don't mind the weight or length due to the type of foxing it's intended for. Which is probably the main reason why most of them will be sat gathering dust
Thanks for the info’..had a hat with my rfd today…he will not take a used 22-250 in p/x…..suggested I look at the 220 Swift?? Did that and it’s not for me…mainly lack of availability and expensive cases for reloading etc. there are few low round count used 22-250 out there..or should I forget them and buy new?.?

Your RFD is taking p**s if he suggests a 220 Swift over a 22-250
I'd definitely want to shoot any used 22-250 I was considering buying.
If it shoots well, forget about and "nasties" you might see in the chamber or barrel.
Extensive cracking in the throat of the chamber is common, but not harmful to safety or accuracy
