22-250 bullet for roe

Looking for recommendations for a factory round for the 22-250 for roe deer in Scotland. I have always used the same foxing round for roe 55grain soft point bullet. It’s an old tikka 595 with 1:14 twist I think, it’s accurate with this round but does a lot of meat damage if chest shot even low neck shot recently sent lots of small lead fragments into the shoulders ( was face on ) rendering them useless. Is there such a round or do I just keep stalking in close and take head and neck shots.

I used Sako game heads 55gr.

But ….a 22-250 is a Vermin speeds chambering .

I went to homeloaded Barnes 55gr ttsx and the damage greatly reduced.

The game heads were 3700 from memory and the Barnes 3650

Pretty much stopped using my 22.250 on roe - just too much damage & fragmentation for supposed SP. As you say, good if you can get in close enough for a head/neck shot but other than that…? Not found good one yet but worst was Federal Power Shok 55gr (plus my T3 just doesn’t seem to like them accuracy wise). The 22.250 is still my go to vermin rifle but take all my (planned) deer with the .270 now.

50gr ppu the bullet is a little bit harder than most but sierra 50 or 55gr work well in a howa

If you don't reload, then the Sako 50/55grn Game heads or Norma 52gr soft points, if you can get them, are good on roe. Doesn't matter what bullet you use; you'll get some damage with the 22/250, even copper. Mine is my most used rifle by a long way.

Yeh I use federal power shock 1 1/2 inch at 100 no bother without really trying , don’t want to go down the additional rifle route so will just practice my stalking skills and get in close , thanks guys .
