22-250 Remington

I know 5 different people aswel as me that all shoot 22-250 and everyone of them say it’s there go to caliber, whether it’s a coincidence or not but all 6 rifles will shoot absolutely any round to near enough thumbnail accuracy

Used my 22/250 on Red? and Sika in Ireland and shot a great many deer with it. Close(within 100yds) to forestry, neck or head shots, out on the hill chest shots. Ran no further than they would with a .243. Just treated my ageing self to a custom one for Munty and foxes. Just frightened to put it down in case I can't find it again. 🤣

The 22-250 case is not much different to 6.5x47 Lap or 6mm/6.5CM. 22-250 was well ahead of it's time. Only issue the 22-250 had was the factory twist rate is from yesterday for lighter bullets than what is available today. Even with 55gr V-Max the 22-250 has put down many Red deer and Sika deer in Ireland and continues to do so. Fast twist 22-250 with 69-80gr high BC bullets is something really interesting. Can be supersonic to over 1200m with these out of a 22" barrel.

I’ll admit I have no experience with the 22-250, however, looking at data, I think if I ever get rid of my .223, I think I’ll go for a .22 creedmoor. The fact you can run a 80g bullet flatter than a 55g in a .223 or 22-250 is something special
that’s more to do with twist rate than cartridge for the 22-250 at least. Think I’d go 22-250 AI, 1:7.5, just to be different!

Don't know where you got the Creed data since I cannot find any on Hornady website. Going by the 22-250 data, if you tweak the zero distance so that it's 1.1" high @100y, 22-250 is flatter past 400y. Even without tweaking it's flatter for the first 300 yards.

At 500y you can tip the scales in favor of 22-250 by changing to 55gr BT, or better yet more modern design (53gr V-Max or Varmageddon) yes they're not 55gr but more comparable to 80gr ELD.
I thought the varmageddon range were all flat based bullets?

Yes Varmageddon are flat based (and since the jacket is thin, they're "really flatbase" and might require extra steps in reloading).

But the modern ogive design in 53gr VG (and 53gr V-Max, that has tiny boat tail) a considerable boost in BC.

The 22-250 wasn't designed for shooting 1000yds, that's like buying a 2 seater sports car and comparing the luggage capacity with that of a volvo estate.
With a twist rate to use a 69grn or heavier I would gladly shoot at 1k with my 22-250.

I have a slot for a 22-250, I've got dies and cases and all the consumables need to reload for it.......just need to get one in the cabinet now but I need optics for my other guns before I take the step onto this wonderful caliber.
