Thanks but Will be sticking with the 35 gr / (30 gr if they ban lead) as that’s what I’ve shot in my last 2 hornets, if I want to shoot heavier for wind or range I’ll take the .223AI
Very nearly didn’t replace my hornet as rabbit numbers are down, shooting around 200 a year instead of nudging the 800-1000. But the fact ammunition is likely to be an issue for WMR and .22LR I thought I’d get another.
Picked it up, was in a bit of a rush as it was in Devon so took the wife and kids for a day trip.
Rushed looking over the rifle and forgot to look at the crown
Looks like it’s only the first half inch or so fortunately, it will get a trip to the RFD on Tuesday for a bore scope and if it can be saved by a chop and rethread.
The round looks good though, looking forward to get some loaded up and tested, have missed having a hornet in the cabinet….
All is not lost. Got to be worth giving it 100 strokes with a nice tight jag daubed with JB Bore Compound and then shoot a few groups. If that fails simply shorten by c20mm with a hacksaw and try again prior to having it professionally trimmed and crowned if it shows promise.

I am in Reading for work Wednesday so hoping to drop it with Neil McKillop for a haircut!
Velocity will be interesting, my old 22" 527 would give 3050 fps with 35s over 12.9 gr of lil gun, if i lose and inch that will give me around17.5-18" of bore to play with so will see if the additional capacity in the case makes up for it - might need the drop tube to get the pressure up for a complete burn.
