22 rimfire ammunition

I have used thousands of Eley sub-sonic rounds and I have never had a misfire. I have tried all the other major makes, but in my CZ the Eley are the most accurate. Did you have a bad batch, or have you a rifle problem ?
Shot some 42g Winchester the other day and no issues. Could be bad batch of Eley or maybe the rifle just doesn’t like them. Either way, good to hear a range of views and recommendations from members.

I chopped my barrel down to 13" and have found that CCI subsonic doesn't work anymore - they're all supersonic unfortunately and aren't cycling the semi auto very well either. They were doing about 950fps before barrel chop IIRC. Eley subs were about 820fps.

Eley now do a range of dry lubed subsonic stuff specifically for machine guns. Eley contact. It’s a heavier bullet with sufficient ooomph to cycle most semi autos. My ermawerke M1 carbine only usually likes hv to be reliable but works ok on Contact. Just as well as I acquired a couple of thou from a mate who didn’t get on with them.

Wet lube is fine in manual actions but soon fills semis with jam causing crap.

A couple of our older club members have popped their clogs recently so we have had a couple of big boxes of assorted 22 ammo appear at the club. Some of it quite literally dates back fifty years. The more common stuff has been handed out to our regulars, but I snaffled a few boxes of the more interesting stuff. Quite a bit of various pistol ammo which still shoots amazingly well. The old army stuff is very accurate.
Looks like the contents of my safe....

Any recommendations for 22 subsonic rimfire ammunition these days. Will need to buy a new batch shortly. Have been using Eley subs but found an unacceptable number of misfires. Mainly for shooting rabbits. Thanks
i just started using these and find they group well and are very quiet compared to the Winchester ones i used to use, have not had any problems in 500-750 rounds, perhaps you got a bad batch?
