I’ve been looking to change my rifle from aics to a hinged floorplate design. ( don’t like the magazine sticking out so far while walking in the brush and with no short .223 aics mags to be found…) the rifle manufacturer makes a kit to change it out, but not in .223 (m5 bottom metal, short action ). I was wondering if I could buy their kit (bottom metal, spring and magazine box) and just change out the follower to a .223 follower and call ‘er done? I’ll have to discuss it with a gunsmith I guess but was just wondering if anyone on here has seen/done something similar?
