243 win 17.5" barrel

i have just had the barrel on my rem 700 sps in 243 win cut down from 24" to 17.5" to fit a moderator right up to the forend. it has now made it a very compact rifle. taking into account what the removed weight of old barrel was and the weight of new mod i have only gained 220grams in total weight .

i shot some of my old reloads in varget and h414 they seemed ok but would like to know has anyone out there any spesific data on my new barrel length .

i use 58gr vmax for varmit, 87gr vmax and 95gr sst for deer and would like any data if its out there.

short barrels

Hi Mate,
i have a ruger .243 with a short barrell and a 7mm08 with a short barrell. I load using N140 it is a bit quicker burning. I don't know if this makes any real difference but it "feels" right using my home brewed physics.

Remington have already thought of this one its called a model severn

The 87gn VMax is a varmint bullet and not designed for use on deer.
