270 Winchester powder recommendations

I've tried several, and mostly stick with RS powders now as availability is good and they appear to burn much cleaner than others i've used RL 22.

I'm currently running 110TTSX in front of RS 60- very "flat" shooting out to 200 yards. (1/2" drop between 100 and 200 yards)

I've also tried RS 62 behind 130g sierra game kings, but velocity wasn't as good as factory loads.

RS 70 for the 150g bullet range. Velocity was good behind Nosler 150g ABLR, but since moved to copper so didn't develop it any further.

Viht N160 and Ramshot Hunter worked well in both my 270s as did IMR 4831. IMR 4831 seems no longer available due to reach, I'm led to believe. And Ramshot Hunter is like Rocking horse turd.

Danny. I’ve just started for the 270 few weeks ago aswell and am on RS62 from ed at Edinburgh rifles and 130gr TTSX. Managed to get that with 57.5gr and 60thou off the lands.

Not got then through the chrono yet mate. I’m hoping to be getting 3000+ if not I think I mgt drop to the 110gr TTSX will.

I went to 95 gr ttsx / 57gr RS62 to get velocities of around the 3000 fps mark, I could load hotter if I wished but as the group size is consistently clover leafed, killing power and carcase damage fine I've stopped there.

My experience comes from using that bullet for 2 decades with bugger all bullet damage.

But obviously your not interested to hear real life performance, your obviously happy with getting your knollage from the internet

Am happy for you pal. Well im happy to go along and find out what works for me and try get the velocity that I want.
You seem like the type of person who likes to push there views on everyone and if its not your way its the wrong.

Somethings telling me if your gettin that with 57gr I will be way below what I’m looking for. And your pushing 95gr ttsx.

@Stevie_87 that's a very light load with the 95gr TTSX - they can be pushed over 3600 fps. I don't think you'll have a problem getting 3000 fps from the 130gr.

I can get 3400 fps with 110gr and 2850 fps with 150gr.

Yes, this was measured with a chronoghraph out of my Tikka 270.

Computer modelling is useful as a guideline but not always accurate.
