Available: 3 days Traditional Hunting for Moose with Dogs in Lapland

My complaint will go straight to Christian as I discussed with him one to one on Monday evening. I have no complaint about not seeing or shooting a moose as its hunting and as his website say's there are no guarantees. The good points I agree were I met some great blokes.

My complaint is the fact that I received an e mail stating that " There's an option to try for whitetail deer in the evening and predators are free with a chance of stuff like Raccoon dog! Last year a bear was shot but that's rare and an extra understandably but there are wolves and lynx in the area. The extras though like bear, wolf and lynx can be shot if the hunter is happy to pay the trophy fee and we have tags to shoot them on the hunt. We should also have the chance for an outing on the Friday night and Tuesday morning as well as the three days moosing."

This was complete and utter rubbish and the trip was totally mis sold to me.
The accommodation was great for six people not 9, you plus one other had to sleep on the sofa, four of us had to sleep in a cubby hole in the roof space on a two inch mattress.

The whole experience was a shambles from the moment we landed in Helsinki, and has put me off from shooting abroad again.

We didn't have toilet roll for the first two days and fed a staple diet of Apples and crisp I recall at one lunch time........IS this the best Hunt N Seek can offer?

The final straw for me was we had the luxury of driving ourselves back to the airport because the our host could not be arsed to get up!!

Originally a 12 man hunt people do not expect to be sleeping in a loft or on the sofa.

The only moose shot was not in any of the drives but by a man looking behind.

These guys are all about taking the money as despite repeated complaints by all including yourself they had no intention of making good.

It was a disgracefull set up run in a totally amateur manner.

My only point in posting on this thread was the fact all 18 hunters had received such a diabolical experience and all were very vocal about it. Therefore I could not with good conscience allow others to part with their hard earned and potentially suffer the same experience. This may/ may not be the case on different grounds as Paul says but with their attitude I would highly recommend giving them a wide berth.

Christian was spoken to atleast three times by myself as well as the whole group, he had plenty of time to make amends but sadly had no intentions of making any just shrugging his shoulders.

imo this was all about recovering the outlay on new grounds which we were all on for the first time including them and this was done proficiently and with much expertise as a 12 man hunt became 18 and also fleecing every hunter for a 140 euro's for food.... Not bad money over 20k for a three day hunt when your dogs are crap not pushing a single Moose to the line and your dishing out an apple and a bag of crisps for lunch...

As Andy says despite the poor hunting experience great friendships were made amongst the group which really did matter, especially when theres three of you on a two inch mattress in a three foot high loft space.

The lads were a scream, even the .270 users aswell as the Northern Monkees

Congratulations to Jonny ( the psycho ) on watching the birds behind him and shooting a little dog luckily there was a stream where the poor thing decided to trip drowning itself and many thanks to everybody for their kind contribution to TBH Foundation.

Sika Stav endured a bad call as a moose stopped 30 yards in front of him, the guide telling him not to shoot as it was a cow, but as it ran away decided it was a bull and he could shoot it Being a .243 user Stav was already handicapped as at over 50 yards he new it was nearly out of range


On 80,000 acres we spent most of our time within the same areas which was so busy with traffic passing us it was farcical. Christian explained all the other hunters were hunting in the same manner as us but we didn't see any of them.. They all must have passed us whilst we were waiting in the line what a joke in so called 80,000 acres

Ill not add any more to this thread but will add my write up to the original thread tomorrow..

Got to agree with all that Terry & Lambsey have said, Paul did a good job putting our end together shame the rest fell apart. It was a great bunch of blokes, considering most had never met before the craic was fantastic, if not considering the money involved it could have become very awkward.

Sorry about the longer drive back guys could not get the bus out of 3rd for my 2 hrs behind the wheel.

The whole thing was a balls up from the start, just as well the company was fantastic and the beer kept flowing otherwise there would have been some very upset people over the days that we were there. We should have known there would be problems once we found out that even with four of the rifles missing we still couldn't fit into the minibus supplied at Rovaniemi. We were then surprised to be asked to drive one of the organisers cars back which was unexpected and Stav kindly did, we then got lost on the way to the cabins..... this was even before we got started....

Having made a comment on the Hunt n Seek two day hunt thread as a warning to others.. here on the original thread is my account of what happened.

Firstly a big thankyou to Paul who for his group ensured all details were taken care of with military precision, even booking and paying for my flight and sorting car parks, hotels etc. Well done mate

Originally offered for 12 and on diferent grounds I joined the hunt after all this had been spoken about and was looking forward to hopefully seeing/shooting a Bull Moose.

The Airport was true to form as despite arriving early had us messing about for so long the gate was closed and the last call made as we rushed to the plane.. a total nitemare..

The drive to Salla from Helsinki was to be around seven hours with a further hour added as soon as we were near to seven culminating in just over 10 hours.

We arrived in the early hours to find that the accommodation had four single beds leaving us to sleep on the sofa's and little two inch mattresses in the three foot loft spaces. A great start making your beds up at nearly three in the morning when your up at six.

We were on each three days placed along a stone road used by logging trucks and it seems most of the local population and fellow hunting parties. This was a surprise proving the lack of attention to detail with us being sited in such ridiculous places

Advertised as a traditional Hunt using Dogs to drive the Moose this was not the case as the only break we had to our line was a couple of Reindeer one with our dog ragging its leg.

Some of the more laughable phrases from the hunt included,

Ssssssh close the door quietly as we were dropped 4-500m apart then stepping aside as a convoy of cars passed us.

Apparently you can tell by the way the dogs bark if its a Bull or Cow but when over the radio you hear theres a drive on and guns be ready you don't expect Mick (the sausage) to say ones on me lap and the other ones licking Fran... what a joke as the dogs disappointed with alarming regularity.

It was a catalogue of disasters as Sika Stav on sighting a Moose was told not to shoot by a guide as it was a Cow, then as the Bull Moose ran off it was quick shoot..when your only packing a pink .243 this was a big ask as by this time it was out of range at over 60m.

Only one person saw big Bull Moose ( another fekin Northern Monkey) which on 80,000 acres managed to find its way onto land we weren't allowed to shoot on... How lucky was that

There was so much I was going to say on this thread but am way too busy tomorrow and don't have the will to go on so will sum up by saying that all the hunters I met were an amazing bunch, and I really mean we did have a total scream inventing a new Brand of humour.

I know many of us will be remaining in touch and new trips are already being spoken of.

Also a big thankyou to everyone for the kind generosity shown for our Amelia this was greatly appreciated.

Summing up....

imo this was all about recouping the money invested in new ground by Hunt n Seek where we were unfortunately the first lambs to the slaughter as despite barely being able to cope with 12 hunters they pushed the boundaries and greed to a level where accommodation, food and even transport could not cope... Then despite this to charge a 140 euros to dish out crisps and a apple then a water cup with a cuppa soup clearly indicates how far these guys have to go to be considered any where near professional or competent.

Big on promises as in the original add, this in no way was representative of what was delivered...

Poor hunting experience, poor food, poor accommodation, poor dogs and despite us all making our feelings known and worst of all a totally disgusting attitude with no intention to make good the failing of Hunt n Seek to deliver on any level by Christian.

Anyone checked a map? we were at least 50km INSIDE the arctic circle (Salla), maybe much more on some of the "drives". Apple & crisp country.

moose hunting in finland

I have just returned from a hunting trip in finland for moose if you go on this hunt you will have more chance of seeing santa and Rudolph
this was the worst trip of my life the accommodation was rubbish at least 10 men were sleeping in a 2 bedroom cabin some of them above the 2 bedrooms
the space above there was about 2 foot 6 inches.
Now we come to the food which is an extra 160 euros but this also includes your radio which you have to have by law I would have expected these to be part of the package,next the food which was rubbish I had 1 breakfast and 2 meals the rest I bought myself the dinners were a sausage on stick that you
put in the fire to cook and a can of beer the 2nd day was slightly better a bag of crisps and an apple I did not go out on the 3rd day as I was fed up of standing there freezing my nuts off and not seeing anything but a red squirrel as far as this is supposed to be a driven hunt I would have expected to
see at least 20/30 beasts and I do not think that on the land that they have there is hardly any moose at all the only thing that was driven on this hunt
was us from place to place.
Then they charge you for your bed sheets an extra 10 euros for £250 more I went to south Africa for 7 days 5 of these we were hunting and all food
and drinks were included.
I could not recommend this hunt in finland to anybody but if you wish just to throw your money down the drain then go

Tell it as it was mate but tell the truth about the good points too, do remember that the 2 day hunt though is a club ground hunt in southern Finland not Lapland run by hunters that many of which have hunted the ground for 20+ years and the waiting list to become a member is decades because it usually involves the death of a member! Being a guest is a bit of a privilege in honesty.. not the same setup as how our hunt was done.

Where we were and the two day hunt is not the same hunt or hunting ground as we were at in Lapland up at the Russian border 400 miles apart. I hope those going on the two day trip get the same experience and quality of hunt I had when I was there last year. It's maybe best to start a new thread or post on the three day one so as to keep it fair. A moose was shot and a bull shot at, another opportunity was passed on that many of us would empty a mag on but while we didn't get a good show and there's a lot of things to be said, it wasn't a con and I'm not looking for cash back because the experience and company while we missed the cherry on top was great. Top lads... even the Northern Monkies

Paul, amazed and slightly disappointed You are continuing to defend this guy, Everything written thus far is fact!! It matters not which part of Finland what type of hunt he is offering. The guy clearly hasn't got a clue what he is doing. We got ripped off end of!! There is simply no excuse, any good ponts such as the "craic" was generated by like minded sportsmen whom on the whole got on very well considering the circumstances. The guy and his "tin pot" out-fit should be exposed. I noted with interest in the thread the same ***** he spun a few of the lads on our trip, myself included, late avialability due to cancellations, dropping his price etc. You yourself now also a trade member paul, likewise although not on here i'm a member of a number of trade organisations, My golden rule for what it is worth is to disassociate myself from anything or anyone that is surrounded with very poor and negative feedback,otherwise you may well soon find your own integrity will get called into question. The guys a conman, the more exposure the better, theres no to be "Fair", we certainly wasnt afforded the same, he took the hard earned money and ran, and we got a very poor return.
