Hi,
I am just looking at getting a Sako 75 in 30.06 reading this and other threads, people seem to be saying they are hard to wear out and perhaps I could have it cut shorter than my 270 with less detriment.

Without being a gunsmith or trusting the one at the shop, how do I tell it isn not a dog?

Thanks

Ian

Idealy need some one you trust to look through the bore with a borescope to check if ok,you could try offering a .308 bullet(preferably not in a live round)into the muzzle if doesn't fit and looks like you'd need a hammer to get it in there then its probably ok ie not worn.Don't know about chopping it down 30.06 seem to benefit from a longer barrel than say .308 because of the extra powder to burn.

Don't worry about it. If the rifle looks mechanically sound it probably is. Accuracy is always a crap-shoot but SAKO is a good rifle. the Model 75 is a good Model and the 30-06 is very accurate and tolerant of bore condition.

I am buying a Savage 110C in 30-06 tomorrow at a city pawn shop about 50 miles from here. Looks like a dog but it will shoot, I'm sure of it.~Muir

(I may buy two as they are only $200 US each...)
