Most will find this boring but as the day was all but lost due to gout I thought I'd check the 30-30 over.
On visiting a local farmer that doesn't mind what I get up to in the back yard I shot my go to small game/ plinking load and was not impressed!
Not very consistent and the full powers went low at 50yds!
I especially did not like the trigger so I went home and did a little trigger adjusting via a fine stone and got it ever so slightly lighter.
Next I tried some Unique loads instead of Herco, again with the 100g plinkers but also some 150gn spitzer hollow point.
Felt really nice, some what different, softer so to speak.
I also tried 5 gn of Red Dot, Alliants fastest shotgun powder and also it seemed to perform better than the Herco!
The trigger was also noticeably improved and disrupting the shot less. Before the adjustment the low power ammo was shooting right but now they seem more in line.
All these low power loads shot low at 50 yards but at 25 yards the lower thick reticle post is minute of rabbit head.
Any how, I had a bit of a shoot for which I was grateful, this morning I thought I was going to be bed bound!
Better get some more water down my gullet..!
