I have the powder for .38 special loads and keep meaning to load up some subsonic .308 .

Many years ago I had access to SAKO sub sonic 308 rounds
I tried some for fun but at 100 yards the mid range trajectory, I reckon would go over a mans head !!
I took some apart and did a bit of weighing, the bullet weighed 180gr and the powder was 6 grs I think.
These were military issue for special operations so probably not really meant for long range or the general public.

I still have some , they are ok but not as good as my hand loads

Probably only meant for FIBUA's or Door to Door 15 to 20 yard stuff.

Is anyone currently using a subsonic load in 308 in the UK ?

It'll be used to clear Foxes in a noise sensitive area at ranges between 50 and 150 yards.

The bullet is Hornady 190gr subsonic.

Case 308 W Lapua match.

Primer .. CCI Large rifle.

If so ... what UK reach complient propellant are you using ?

And how many grains ?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I posted this some time ago, you may find it helpful. I used no fillers.
I have used it on fox only, the maximum distance I have shot at live quarry has been 120m, it was deadly, having entered all the info into Alpex LRF balistic profile I've had good accuracy to 150m.

I wanted N320, however settled on N330 as it was available.
All loads were tested (checking for signs of tumbling) without a mod fitted in the first instance.
.308 M12 Mauser
20 inch barrel
1/11 twist
No modifications were carried out on the PPU case.
CCI large primer
Hornady 190grn Sub X
Started at 10.5 grn N330
worked down, too 8grn N330 In .5grn decrease.
All loads proved safe.
Loads above 9.5grns were super sonic
Loads 9grn and under were Sub Sonic.
8grns loads were very quiet at 940fps
8grns Zeroed at 50m were accurate <3/4 inch.

It will work great. I would aim at the shoulder if possible (of the rifle is accurate enough and the distance is reasonable)
