Edit, mod not screwed on tight has fried my brain on one occasion with my Hornet, which shoots tiny clusters usually , I wasted a lot of ammo one afternoon.

I'd tried everything - repeat everything - else, then someone pointed out that the quick release on the scope mount was capable of being turned an extra half-revolution.

Thanks for the candour and glad you got it sorted. I’ve. Had similar things and when a previously good combination of load and rifle suddenly stop shooting straight it ends up being something simple like this. Worth sharing, thanks.

Meaning it was not tight or over tightened? Could you post a picture so we all know what the issue was!

Simply curios but it wouldn't happen to be Leupold QRW rings would it?

Late to the party I have only just seen this thread. I bought RWS large rifle primers when I could not get CCI br2 . I too found them very hard to seat.
I tried in norma brass 6.5x55 and 30-06 Hornady cases. I always clean the primer pockets.
