Right guys,
We haven't had a meet up for a long time, ie about four years.

So, 30th November at the George Inn, Vernham Dean.

an excellent pub which has just made it into the “good beer guide”.
If there is interest I will organise some food as well.
New stalkers welcome.

As ever, tall tales expected, The one that got away, yeti spotting and of course, I might find some high class cra… merchandise in my loft that I need shifting.
 
I'm just coming back I to shooting after around 5 years out. A good meet Always helps get things moving and Always nice to know some other local shooters.
Well any near Wilts at least.

Now that sounds like a good place to meet for me.
These 'meets' used to be quite regular and were handy as a 'Bring and Buy' sale of odds and ends, things you never knew you needed until you see them ;-)
I can remember one meet where a guy brought along a new moderator for us to see, I can't remember the make or model but I do remember a guy taking it apart and putting it back together.
When the owner of the mod came to use it a few days later, the front half of it went a good hundred yards down range !
When the other guy put it back together at his first attempt he cross threaded it so on his final attempt must have stripped the threads.
Apart from that unfortunate incident, the meets enables quite a few bits and bobs to change hands.
So 30th November sounds good to me.

Well, friendly until I turn up then they get abusive. Maybe cos I keep asking the girls for a sincere overnight relationship. They claim they will never go out with me cos they like my missus. Go figure. :lol:
it is a big fireplace though.
 
Great memories of a welcome pint there following superb partridge shooting days at Hippenscombe, lovely part of the country. Wish it was nearer!
 
Hello! New to the area and absolutely novice to deer stalking but this is down the road for me and it would he nice to say ‘hi’ and wet the throat.

If that is kosher, what time would you normally get together?
 
Is this meeting likely to be a bit of a 'bring and buy' sale like previous meets where we have brought along items that others didn't know they needed until they saw it ;-)
If so, I can bring some powder, bullets and a couple of rifle slings and rifle slips. OH ! and some money just in case I see something I didn't know I needed ;-)
Obviously nothing on display, kept in the boot of the vehicle until discussed, oh except the yellow rose worn on the right hand jacket lapel or behind the ear if not suited ;-)
 
You can bring anything. Well there are limits I suppose. The pub is very friendly and caters for some of the local shoots. He buys venison and rabbits from a very nice person as well. 😁

Actually , I must go through my stuff and see what i have. i have definitely got some mounts, possibly a scope, and dunno what else, but yup bring your rubbish, Eer, high quality merchandise. Someone might be interested. But I am still trying to reduce my stuff.
I would be interested in factory ammo in 223 and 243 if anybody is getting rid at the right price. Ohhh, and a nice brand spanking thermal scope at a fraction of the price would be good as well. No? Ah, well, worth a try. I will actually pull a list together before hand. Let’s you know if there is any interest before lugging it down. You could do the same. Just a thought.
 
Factory ammo coming up ;-) drag bag, rifle slip, Vit 160 H380 H4385 lovely rifle slings. 9mm hollow point bullets. shotgun primers.
I have some lead free .30 bullets bought from Ed Bewsh when he first got them in, I'm not likely to use them now but wouldn't want to lose out as they were quite expensive.
As I think of other things I'll post it up.
 
Have to say I have the safari sling on my HMr and think it is great. Also put it on the 243 on occasion when out foxing. Great bit of kit. Oh, and that Heck basket gets a lot of use.
 
Hi all,
I have had a word with the pub and they will put some nibbles on if I let them know numbers. So, can those of you who are coming confirm as I’m paying and don’t want to spend out for a table load of food to go to the dogs…. Or the rest of the pub. 😁

If nobody confirms then it is cheese and onion crisps.

Was always a good pub in my youth we would flip over the top to the Boot at Littledown as well.Used it after cricket at Linkenholt.
Right at the top of my valley.
We would have a shandy all the way back to The Bourne Valley Inn.

Long way from home now.

How many have committed, has anybody said they are bringing anything for those that didn't know they needed it ?
