If you're in the market, I would give the Meopta some consideration. I'm extremely pleased with mine. It's a fairly hefty scope, but that's no bad thing on a heavier calibre anyway and I have no doubt that it'll be totally reliable, even with a fairly high level of recoil.

Mid-range pricing, but perhaps a little clearer and nicer to use than say the Leupold I had a go with on your course.

Hopefully I'll be able to make another DG weekend at some point so you can have a go with mine.

I have a Leica 2.5-10 x 42 on my Winchester Mod 70 Safari Express. The extra mag when turned up will help on plains game hunts but turned down when after a buffalo. I got Recknagel Bases ( Express rifle bases different from Standard Win 70 ) and Leupold QR Rings.
Might all be to no avail this year with the problem of travel to SA.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I am going to see if I can find 30 mm rings that will allow to the levers to be reversed but still function in the CZ550 integral bases.

What straight wall 30mm scope can you recommend

One with lots of eye relief....
I have a 378 Weatherby.
It came with a Leupold 1.5 - 5, which has the best part of 4" eye relief.
Even so, it has kissed my eyebrow once or twice.

I have no experience with your choice of mounts though, are they extended or just straight up normal rings not offset at all?
I’m looking closely at the Leica 1.5-6.3 x 24 which looks amazing and sensible money. The cheaper leupold (non illuminated) are good but all 1 inch tubes. If you can cope with only 4x mag (too low for my liking there is this one:
