6.5x55 SE Hornady SST Reload recipe

Does anyone have a recipe for 6.5x55 using Hornady SST 140gr with Vit N150 or N140 powder?

N140 will be too fast, n150 load data will be on the viht website, choose the nearest bullet in weight and profile and work up.

Yep - 139gns is close enough but as ever start low and work up slowly!

N140 defo too fast. N150 is shown on the Vit load data for a 139gr bullet with the max charge being 37gr. However that only gives a 81% fill.
So I would say that the N150 is also too fast. N160 and N555 will be be much better both in case fill and velocity.

Slower powders work best in the Swede, take out a mortgage and get a tub of Vit N560, 48 grains under a 140 worked fine for 2700 fps and accurate.

This depends on your barrel length. Most data is with 24” barrels or above. If you are using 20-21” barrels then use N150. The percentage burn on N160 is too low in short barrels and will lead to issues.

The N500 series is a good shout. As is RS62/RL17 but I guess from your question you have access to N150

Mind that's a 29" barrel!

Unless you'd like to use it at super long range id drop to the lighter weight 123 sst, not a huge BC difference at .510 vs .520 but fairly easy to push it 300fps quicker which is quite a nice bonus.

I use N560 for a very accurate load, although just shy of 49gns, with 139 's, dont need them up to the lands for a jump, go with factory length.
