6mm BR

I have a Sako M591 rebarreled in 6BR. Have only used it on fox so far but plan to load up some 100 grain NP for roe next year.

Hi Jim,

Sorry if I've caused an issue, but thank you for your input, it's very much appreciated; and in terms of stalking, it would be small deer on a paid accompanied stalk, but primarily, it would be Varminting (not sure the English terminology), such as Fox and some longer range crow, rabbit etc.

I think the nearest English equivalent to the term"varmints",would be vermin,although I don't like the term much as it somehow devalues the animals that it encompasses.
PS. I love my 6br,which is superbly accurate and I do hope,at some time,to use it on mid sized deer.

My mate has a 6mm BR built by Norman Clarke(Sako action I think) and it wears a big Nightforce. Its my mates go too rifle with 75 grn Noslers its absolutely clinical.

In fact it is absolutely surgical in precision and there is many a fox had a bullet inserted between its eyes with this. He shot countless munties and roe, all head or neck shot, need I say any more.

yup,

pity i don’t use mine anymore, i don’t stalk,i don't have much time to do long range stuff anymore so it sits in the cabinet all ready to go but no one to use it,

ps: i to use 70 g nosler bt bullets to great effect and the accuracy makes your eyes water, i put a 6mm bullet through a 10 mill hole in a steel gong at 120 to smack a can of coke behind it, now that for a blind fat overweight scotsman not bad,

best shot for a long time was a 2 shot engagement at 470 yards missed with the first but hit the bunny with the second one, 70 gr nosler my br with a zeiss 4.5/14x50 front pod and rear bag, countless bunnies well past 300 yards as well as crows, miss using it but that’s life,

It's probably my favourite type of shooting, Leporidae with a high velocity centrefire varmint rifle. Very productive and good for the skills. Satisfying to clean bowl them at 300-400m...
