Alright

Anyone got much experienxe of 6x6 quads or utvs?
Thinking of upgrading my quad which is getting older now.
There is a 6x6 quad for sale, i thought it might be quite handy as i generally need to tow a trailer with tools, logs feed etc in.
The 6x6 having a box on back could mean i could probably not need the trailer as much.
I know they are pretty good off road

I was just wondering wot their like driving about on better ground, harder farm tracks or around the farm yard?
Are they hard work steering or hard on rear tyres or diffs?
Or even rip the gravel up turning

I dont realy need the 6wd drive but it would be handy every now and again as long as not a Pita the rest of the time when a quad ( in 2wd usually ) and trailer copes easily

Used both can-am outlander 6x6 and the Polaris big boss 6x6, aswell as the can-am defender 6x6.

I’ve had 3 outlanders through work, one of which I put 27,000 miles on in 2 years. I like the 6x6 find them a lot more useful than a 4 wheel bike, but if your expecting them to handle like a 4 wheel think again, they take a bit of getting used too, and will never have the turning of a 4 wheel, or the “fun” factor if you want to chuck them about,
However if you run middle axle at 8-12 psi, and the rear at 2-4psi it does help with turning a lot, with weight in rear you will again have a harder time turning as they push on.

I was wondering if i could run the tyres harder or even a spacer in the suspension ( althou will depend on the suspension type)
I dare say always putting ur worn tyres on rear axle too

Most of the work id use it for quad would handle no probs.
And im never turning it that hard or driving fast, but at same tine dont want it to be like turning a bus .
But at same time quite happy to do the odd 3 point turn, and because i dont have a trailer on its no hassle.
But i do have some timber to extract from some pretty wet woods so woild come in handy.

I just ran that centre axle tyres slightly higher psi, made a fair difference to turn ability,
Wouldn’t know about putting warn tyres on rear as if I had new boots it was a set, but I also ran track for a long time on them too, and again unreal where they will go, never seen or believed a vehicle could drive where they could, then with the tracks it leaves you speechless.

I’d certainly see if someone has one they would let you try, or get a demo on one before you commit to buying one. As they do seem tobe marmite, But for me it would be a no brainer.

Aye 1 off the grouse moors i used to go too had a couple, althou they were Utv bodies.
And it is amazing where they go, give an argo a good run for thejr money.
And in some cases will go where an argo wont due to ground clearance.
I see a few hill fencer boys with them and swear by them.

Seen 1 semi local 2nd hand so can take it for a spin.
To be fair i ll know pretty quick when i feel how it turns
And just quad money, which is why my intetest has been perked.
Would never have thoufht about 1 before

1 of the slight drawbacks is it wont fit on my quad trailer thou.
Got an 8x4 trailer which is a nice handy size, going to be very tight width wise.
And about 1ft too short, but have adapted trailers in the past by taking front side of trailer.
Handy just having a single axle trailer to move about.

Got a big trailer but its a pita to be dragging about just for a quad.

I personally wouldn’t thankyou for a Argo, there noisy, uncomfortable, and unreliable.

As for the trailer issue, I have previously loaded a 6x6 onto a p7 (7’) ifor and then just rachet strapped the tail board up, just got to remember the long overhang if on rough ground as it does hang up.
