8x57 Mauser and a farm in the Kalahari

One of my Afrikaner friends wanted to buy a rifle. He was thinking about getting a 6.5 Creedmoor, but I convinced him to get a Mauser 98 in 8x57 instead

My friend was so happy with the 98 Mauser that he invited me to go hunting on his farm.

His farm is located near the town of Van Zylsrus which was named in honour of a famous Boer general.

There are lions, giraffe and gemsbokke on the farm.

I want to go there with some friends and together we might bag a bok and have a large braai.

Contrary bro what people say, 8x57 is a phenomenal round, as long as not expected to be used on long shots regularly.

I’d take an 8x57 over a .308 any day of the week, and have had many
