Probably the only way to deal with this is to use some form of biological control, find something that infects them or renders them sterile.

Fair lump of protein there...............maybe a tad crunchy, but protein nonetheless, just saying.
A swarm could feed one for many months in different dishes..........just saying again!

My little Greek mate down the road used to catch yellow winged locusts and cook them and convinced me that they "are really good"..yeah right..wrong..the taste was ok but the thoughts of all the tape worm eggs they had eaten was in my mind.

I fired something like that once........didn't keep my right hand open when working the lever.......it did bleed.

Had bolt actions ever since...
