A Little light reading.

Thanks for posting, this is a good example of how effective deer management can be and how it can lead to a good level of deer stalking availability for the general public (with DSC 1 & 2 etc.). Anyone who has been on Arran will be aware that the red deer isn't classed as "vermin" as some of our esteemed Nature loving organisations may have you believe and a well managed herd(s) will be a productive entity with appropriate management for decades. Because it's an Island, there might be a risk that the gene pool may get diluted, but the Rum Red Deer Study, doesn't seem to have identified problems as yet on that count. Apart from that, Arran is a lovely place to visit and should be on the "must see" list of Scottish Islands......
