I was supposed to go bow hunting last weekend, however we had an unusually late heat wave. It was in the mid to high 90s all last weekend. That’s like Africa hot by the way. That is about the worst possible condition for elk hunting. I had to abort the mission. I’ve taken tomorrow off and am going to give it a try, even if it’s only a day trip. The Browning BAR saga continues. I had the smith put my charging handle together ($85). The charging handle slips into the bolt sleeve, but is loose. Upon further inspection, a tiny piece of the bolt sleeve is ripped off. It happened when I whacked the charging handle to open it. I have an order in for a new bolt sleeve ($97), time will tell if they can find me one. The gun is shootable now, I’m looking forward to experimenting some more with it.
